What are my chances?

Well, Stanford has no way of knowing that the hypothetical senior year teacher didn’t teach you/mentor you in the past. I would say that it would be better to have a teacher from an earlier year write one, but, if there’s a teacher next year with whom you hit it off with, then you can give them a detailed resume and then maybe sit down with them to write it. I didn’t do that, but I know some kids who did do that, and it worked out okay for them.
Good luck! I hope to see you there in fall 2011!
