What are my chances?

-GPA: 3.4 (on an unweighted 4.0 scale)
-SAT: 2050 (plan on improving this though)
-ACT: Haven’t taken it yet, but my PLAN corresponded to a 34
-Likely a National Merit Commended Scholar
-Extra-Curriculars: Play soccer, basketball and ultimate frisbee for my high school (Captain of my soccer team), and I also volunteer at a Children’s Hospital

Class of 2010
Ethnicity: Caucasian
-I also go to probably the second-best high school in Seattle and am ranked 30 of 70 people in my class. I was a in the University of Washington’s Young Scholar program, and take all AP-level classes (including Calculus 1 and Statistics this year). My GPA has also been raised to a 3.5/3.6 for the second semester of my Junior Year. My mother is also a well-known doctor who works for the University of Washington.

I haven’t gotten less than a B in high school and my current grades are:

Calculus: A
Humanities of the Theater: A
Biology: B
US History: B+/A- (not sure)
Stats: B+/A-
American Literature: B+
French 4: B+/A-

I’m primarily interested in business and am looking at the following schools:

Washington
Western Washington
Cornell
Colgate
Hamilton
Skidmore
University of Rochester
Vermont
Villanova
American
Virginia
Michigan
Wake Forest
North Carolina
Queen’s
McGill

Thanks for any help!

thats a fairly long list…could you narrow it?
GPA is fairly low, SAT is decent, but not great, and your class rank (30/70!) will kill you
Sorry to say, but fairly basic ECs, not much diversity or strength in either of them

Sorry to be so harsh, but the truth is you probably will not get into anything less than a 40% acceptance rate…so no Cornell and Colgate, narrow it down to 5-10 so i can look up the other ones and chance you on those

Alright, I’ll narrow it down to these:

Washington
Cornell
Colgate
Rochester
Hamilton
Skidmore
Vermont
Villanova

My GPA/class ranking aren’t that great, but usually around 15 people from each class go to an Ivy League school (five are going to Dartmouth this year), so being 30th in my class isn’t too horrible. Also, I’m not sure if this helps or not, but Skidmore has accepted 17/22 of the people who applied there from my school (average GPA is a 3.2 of those accepted), and the average GPA of those accepted from my school at Villanova, Hamilton, Vermont and Washington is around a 3.2 as well.

Thanks for the clarification, I did not know a lot of those schools
Typically Ivies admit by percentile, they seek the top 10% as a minimum, so Im surprised 15 went to ivies…
If that is the case, then you are pretty much in at all of the schools you mentioned except Cornell, and the top LACs such as Colgate, for those I am pretty sure you will get into one

Good Luck

Thanks for the help!
