You should get in just fine

UCSB is not that easy to get into…is it??

I usually don’t go into these ‘chance me’ threads… it looks like you’re from the DC area, based on your extracurricular activities. If you were in-state, I’d say that your chances are pretty good. I also ran a table on the UC StatFinder website ([University of California: StatFinder](http://statfinder.ucop.edu/statfinder/printerfriendlyreport.aspx?sessionid=08fd9e0b-f20b-43ec-93c0-213f8a561231&seqid=1) [ignore the print prompt]), and it looks like your GPA is still pretty good if you’ve only weighted the maximum 8 classes for your UC GPA.

(And as an aside, the University of California’s common application does not require letters of recommendation.)

If I was right about you being from out of state, then what I think you should really consider is if UCSB is worth $40,000+ a year to you.
