Letters of Rec:
-my councilor (who despised me) was excessed, so I don’t know how my new counselor will evaluate me.

 • I have a good relationship with some of my teachers. Some have given me their phone numbers and invited me to have a cup of coffee with them…

I know that my GPA and EC are lacking. I went through extenuating circumstances my freshman year that caused me to have devastating emotional pain/stress. My second semester of freshman year, I decided to become the CEO of the business I inherited from my grandparents. I missed a lot of school and I was also sleep deprived. I lost out on many things, like hanging out with friends, going to school games, homecoming, etc. I continued to push myself, although I knew I was unprepared (I guess I just had something to prove). I can holistically now say that I regret putting no effort at my grade-inflated, mediocre, cesspool school. At this point in my high school career is it to late for my to prove to college that I am competent? Also, what college could accept me?

The CEO thing makes you interesting, and that ACT score is great. What state are you in? That has a role in which schools are matches for you.Your state school is always a good bet. Also, make sure you KILL junior year. I’m not even kidding. Junior year is your last chance to make up for that soph GPA. Having a reasonable upward trend provides credibility for your extenuating circumstances, and helps colleges see that you’re a good student who deserves admission.

I live in Michigan.

I’m not really interested in private/ivies, but would I have a chance at any 20 university if I applied?

I meant top 20. I am only interested in Northwestern for liberal arts, but I doubt that could happen.

Bump

Your essays are gonna determine whether you get in somewhere or not, honestly. I don’t think anyone on this site would be able to tell you whether you could get into any top 20 schools without reading your essay(s).

Being in-state for UMich is a plus. I’m pretty sure UMich is Top 20 (If US News says it isn’t, ignore them, because it’s definitely in that league of prestige). Like I said, work your butt off junior year, and you’ll have reasonable chances at UMich Ann Arbor.

Gotcha
