I am currently at University at Buffalo. I went for financial reasons and have always had the goal to transfer. I currently have a 3.9 GPA. I am wondering what my chances are of transferring to a competitive t-50 school. Is that realistic?
Your GPA is good but you need to realize that highly selective universities have relatively low transfer admission rates and often do not give a lot of financial aid to transfer students. Factor that into your selection of which schools to apply to.
I think you have as good of a chance to transfer as any. Colleges tend to look at your college gpa the most in assessing you in the transfer process.
The other thing that can swing a transfer decision to your favor is having a specific academic niche that you find is more extensive at another school than where you are now.
Be aware that some schools do not guarantee to meet all need for transfer students even if they do so for freshmen. Also merit money is nearly nonexistent for transfers
