Indeed it should.

Housing sucks (except for the quad).

Being confused with Penn State is annoying.

The girls are really ugly.

Crime sucks because maureen rush cares more about being politically correct than actually kicking criminal ass

Chord on blues

I guess that’s it really. Certainly a lot more for than against.

My ex goes to Penn :P

Seriously though, of the 7 or so girls from my school who are freshmen at Penn, probably 5 are attractive.

I’m not sure why everyone thinks the quad is so awesome. It’s social and fun, but apparently Hill is too. The outside is beautiful, but the inside is as much of a ****hole as any other dorm.

Huh? Whatchu talking about? ;)

Shouldn’t that be “centre” since Pennsylvania is a former British colony, and not “center”?

:p
:D

I’d disagree with this! I know of some HOT girls who are at Penn.
I wouldn’t go as far to say that they are as hot as the girls at Duke of course!

Housing isn’t even an issue. I’m living in Hill this year, and although my room is slightly smaller than a typical jail cell, it promotes friendship helps to give halls an identity.

Crime also is not an issue, since there is so much security ALL THE TIME. You just have to be smart and don’t stumble home alone drunk at 4 AM if you are a tiny girl.

Anyway, the negatives I can think of…

Because it is a large school, your intro classes are going to have 150+ students in them unless they are Philosophy or Language. Some people are good in these situations; many people are not.
It seems to be that if you teach in the Economics or Mathematics department, you are not allowed to speak unbroken English.
Many intro classes that are not huge lecture/recitation style classes are going to be taught by teaching assistants and graduate students… they do a good job for the most part, but still.
A lot of the course registration and email stuff that Penn uses is very difficult to use. Just an annoyance but whatev
Sports teams are mediocre at best (with a few exceptions). My high school has a larger average attendance at football games than Penn does.
Everything is uber-expensive
Food in the dining halls frankly sucks. Houston Market is good, though. If you visit, go to Houston and order the 9th Street flat bread pizza. You won’t regret it.

Otherwise, I really don’t see much on the downside for Penn. It’s a damn good school, and people are normal, not study-crazies like you would expect. Penn’s known as the “social” ivy, for good reason.

It is very VERY pre-professional. They find jobs for philosophy majors. Yeah. I’m dead serious about that.

Job opportunities and internships are all over the place, and so you get a great chance at building a resume while in college.
And you can take grad courses as a junior. Which is sweeet.
Oh, and of course, the Glee Club is amazing (just a plug for my singing group haha … go to PENNGLEECLUB.COM and check us out!)

I am at a loss as to why the university working hard to find jobs for everyone could be considered a bad thing…
