Lol everyone thought it was an amazing school at my place and congratulated me until the only other kid in my class who applied got in and he had terrible stats and is a jerk to all the girls in our grade so they said “well if he got in, it must not have been that hard” It really spoiled it for me…lol oh well I’m going to college for me not them.

literally my whole school knows and think its crazy I haven’t submitted my letter of intent yet…

When I got into UCLA, I got some congratulations and had some astonished classmates.

When I said UC Berkeley, I got hearty hugs, what I think was a kiss, and astounded classmates. ;)

you got kissed? by a girl? darn it maybe if I got into Yale…who knows what could happen??? now I have motivation, can’t wait for April 1st!

lol, a lot of leet people got into Berk at our school, and some UCLA acceptees were rejected, which made the acceptance from Berk pretty awesome. But then this one guy got in and people were just like ehhhh.

lol I live in SoCal, and at my school it’s pretty respected to get into Berkeley and/or UCLA…but there are literally classes where the teacher might be curious and say, “Who got into Berkeley (and/ or UCLA)?” and at least half the class might raise its hands.

you lucky Calis, Boise, Idaho might have a ridculously low crime rate and I can drive downtown and walk around it all night long without getting shot (sorry never been to a big city so going by streotypes) but it’s so BORING and everyone is so CONSERVATIVE. I mean I’m a fiscal conservative but I consider myself socially moderate and everyone is so judgmental (Anti-gay Anti-woman’s choice) (I’m not gay or an aborting woman, but I still think it’s wrong to judge or push your religious ideals on others). And Idaho colleges aren’t top notch like Cali ones…

PS: Up in Northern Idaho is where the Klan used to hang out…and since I’m Hindu never really decided to take a trip up there…

yeah 14 kids got in from my school last year. actually thats how many went there for sure, idk how many got in…maybe more

quote from Diivio:

I’m guessing Idaho ppl ramble a lot, too…

I suppose if I was representative of the entire population of Idaho then that would be the case, but thankfully I’m not lol.

HAHAHAHAH!! That was my first reaction to this thread. EVERYONE from my school gets into CAL or UCLA, so people just shrug it off since its nothing special. But people outside of school are always very encouraging and supportive.

lol yeah. thaz true. a lot of people at my skool get in but i think it was still really exciting to get in (at least when i read my letter it was. no so much anymore cuz everyone says science majors are extremely hard and competitive, and guess what? i’m a science major). but for me to be one of those 14 that go there is pretty awesome! i never thought it would be ME

To the guy who got hugs from UCLA and then kisses for UCBerkeley…***? Berkeley isn’t that much better.

To me, they are around the same, and I’m actually thinking of going to UCLA over Berkeley.

I get a lot of “WOWS” especially because Im out of state and no one really goes to Berkeley from my school. They all go to University of Texas

Getting into Berkeley is no big deal, because frankly the admissions admit plenty of highly underqualified people anyway. And reject some much more qualified applicants.

Wherever you get in, you’re still the same guy or gal – either you’re good or you suck like always (i.e. either you’re making use of the resources around you and trying hard or not)…but for having the resources you have here, you can at least try harder if you didn’t earlier.

You got a lot to learn…:p

UCBChemEGrad - what else would you expect someone to say who is choosing UCLA? That it was the southern annex of Cal? If the LA lifestyle is important, or distance from home, or whatever, it is easier to consider it if the compromises can be minimized or negated. Thus, no difference.

I told my aunt, who is a scientist. She quoted a recent phrase of Joe Biden’s in response.

@ao1313 : thats completely true for me too!

everyone goes to UT and thats there dream school or something… I actually wanted to go there b/c i thought i had NO chance at Berkeley, but got rejected from UT and accepted to UCB … :)

@dae0528 : wait thats awesome! haha i love how UCB is a lot better than UT and UT rejected you haha ut can suck it. I got into UT Business but Im def gonna choose Berkeley over it. I think a lot of people who think that Cal is “not that big of a deal” is because they live in California. Do you live in Texas?
