I know that freshmen in scholars living on campus must stay at a specific dorm, but are they any different from non-scholars dorm? I know it’ll depend on the people who are there but how is the atmosphere in general?

I planned on living on North campus but that won’t be an option and I’ll have to stay at Mack instead.

I don’t think the atmosphere is much different. Not every student in a Scholars dorm is part of a Scholars program. My son was in Scholars and in Mack and liked it just fine and kind of missed it when he moved off campus. He loved the building (except it got really hot in warm weather) and the location, and there were good, bad, studious, partiers, foreign and US kids, just like any other dorm. If you are worried about it being overly “studious”, that’s not the case. There are always kids who take the studying seriously and others who don’t, in any dorm. A plus was there was always someone willing to help or tutor usually right on your own floor.
