what are some "A+ colleges for b students" near a city?

<p>i’d like to go to college in either California, or around Penn, New York, Delaware, Maryland. </p>

<p>I’d like to go somewhere in a city if there is a campus/campus life or on the outskirts/near a city. I am interested in business:advertising, marketing, public relations. </p>

<p>The thing is, i am an average student. I’m looking for a college that is great, but accepts a student like me. </p>

<p>My GPA is a 3.0. ACT is 21; for SAT i got a 490 on reading, a 490 on writing, and a 490 on math. ( i am taking them again) I am in the 50% of my class rank.</p>

<p>I am highly active w/ community service in my town, i have a job, and i am in 3 clubs in my school, played 1 sport and was a soccer manager for the boys team. I have a few other E.C.'s too. </p>

<p>So far i have applied to University of Scranton, Stevenson University, SUNY Albany, SUNY Oneonta but i do not feel completly satisfied w/ my list.</p>

<p>no idea what your financial situation is, but have you looked at Suffolk U in Boston?</p>

<p>Don’t sweat it Callie, you are still a slightly above average student, and in the college world that seems to make a big difference. I personally only have a 3.2 and 28 ACT, but that is not stopping me from pursuing a meteorology degree. You should be fine.</p>

<p>Try maybe Depaul in Chicago or University of New Orleans? (if those are acceptable city)</p>

<p>Definitely look into DePaul, solid business school with many great internships. Living in a Chicago suburb, I actually know many people going there.</p>

<p>thanks for telling me about DePaul, i really like it! Although i am not sure i want to stay in Chicago after i graduate, maybe for a few years, but is DePaul noticed across the country or is it only well-known in Chicago?</p>

<p>If you need financial aid, why are you applying to Albany & Oneonta OOS? </p>

<p>On another thread you stated you were from New England. Have you considered public schools in your home state?</p>

SUNY schools are more affordable, even for an OOS. My parents agreed to may almost all of it. Although, they are getting harder to get into latley. I really dont want to stay in my state, i want to live somewhere different.</p>

<p>There are many schools in the Philly region which are often overlooked.</p>

<p>LaSalle University is one which offers decent aid.</p>

La Salle is definitely a reputable school in Philadelphia and throughout the northeast. The majority of our alumni are from or live in the northeast, but La Salle graduates get jobs all over the world as well as the US. Judging by your credentials, I would say you’re right there with the quintessential La Salle student too.</p>

Basketball teams & Football teams are Division I, usually on national television. </p>

<p>Would this be far enough away from Connecticut & would Morgantown be “City” enough for you?</p>

<p>marymount manhattan college could work. also, maybe pace university, hofstra, adelphi, and st. john’s university. </p>

<p>around philadelphia, arcadia university would be a match. really good study abroad programs, close to the city.</p>

<p>You have similar grades to me but my gpa is higher, 88 which is a 3.4 - 3.5ish. I was accepted to University of Scranton, but I’m also waiting on 9 schools 2 of which are ivies (Penn and Cornell). Why did I apply to those schools if theres no chance of me getting in? Well because the ivies offer me something that the others will not. World known professors that published books like Carl Sagan who used to teach at Cornell is one example. A more serious learning environment where the majority of the students want to learn. Respect as in people will say o went went there wow look at you. And also it makes you very competitive when you apply for graduate school. I have a deep passion for science and I want to learn with the best and the brightest, so why should I be denied that? Because of my ACT scores or rank? That really is terrible in my opinion that a guy whos serious about learning is denied that because of numbers. University of Scranton id a good school but its mediocre. with a 71% acceptance rate. They only good thing is that 80% of their students who apply to med school get in. So I didn’t give you a list but just something to think about. <p>Have you thought of Seattle University? Smaller, but offers good financial aide and has a well regarded business school. We just came back from a visit and were really impressed with the quality of the school and programs. Microsoft, Amazon, Starbucks, Nordstrom…lots of young and growing businesses there. The only downside is that you have to buy into the Northwest culture - everywhere you looked there were Northface jackets and jeans. Beautiful beautiful area with great public transportaiton.</p>
