Does anyone know of any volunteer or extracurricular activities that would help with someone going towards the medical illustrator path? I’m currently in a few art clubs, but I’m a little confused on what I could do for the science side.
I don’t know about extracurricular activities, and my artist daughter is not a medical illustrator, although qualified to be one. Classical realist-atelier training would be a good background–the ability to draw anything–and a thorough knowledge of anatomy. My daughter attained her knowledge of the human body by sculpting every muscle, tendon and bone in the human body. So, a sculpture course where this is taught might make a good “extracurricular” activity.
