I’ve heard that colleges are incredibly interested in high school students who have many leadership roles. Would tutoring be considered a good leadership position?

Basically, what are colleges looking for when they say “leadership,” and how many leadership positions are needed to get into the top-tier colleges here in America (i.e. Ivy Leagues)?

Some colleges look for people who are campus leaders – either in heading or steering of significant orgs – or just opinion leaders. Does this person have an impact – in the classroom or out of it.

Think yourself: who are the 4-5 kids in your class whom you would consider class leaders? I don’t mean popularity. Also, either one is or isn’t one of these – they just don’t magically adopt the mantle “leader” because they wish it so. Elite colleges know this too.
