What are some good safety schools for electrical engineering? :)

assuming ga tech is match for me and berkeley and caltech are reach/-low match.

is virginia tech a safety? what about purdue?
also, is University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign easier to get into than ga tech (though it is higher in ranking in EE?)

thank you very much :)

What can you afford?

are you a CA resident?

I’m a GA resident, and I can afford to about 50-55k (but I only want to pay this if the school is really good, like CMU or MIT or something). If it is a safety, I do want it to be lower, like max 25-30k.

Based on common data set information, UIUC appears to be slightly more selective than Georgia Tech. Minnesota (Twin Cities) appears to be somewhat less selective. Virginia Tech and Cal Poly SLO appear to be a bit less selective than that – a median freshman at Georgia Tech would probably be around 75th percentile at these schools.

You can probably get a good idea of how you stand at San Jose State by calculating [CSU GPA/url, using that and SAT or ACT scores to calculate [url=<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU]CSU Eligibility Index](<a href=“Cal State Apply | CSU”>Cal State Apply | CSU), and then checking [SJSU Admission](http://info.sjsu.edu/web-dbgen/narr/admission/rec-1208.html) .

All of these are in the $30,000 per year range cost of attendance (for out of state students).
