I’m a junior starting to think about college with stats and ec’s that may not be quite at “ivy level” but I think I would fit at a decent school a notch below.

So I ask the question? What schools are great schools (preferably in the northeastern area maybe as south as Maryland) that I should consider for my list?

I have a 31 ACT and a 3.8 GPA -and im also a recruitable track athlete which may also provide a boost in admissions maybe.
please any help is appreciated! I’m honestly clueless about where to start looking!

There are many schools “a notch below” the Ivies in the Northeast.
Try using the College MatchMaker on the College Board site to find some that meet your preferences.

If you really have no idea what you want, then start researching a few schools in each of the following categories:

Small liberal arts colleges
(e.g. Bates, Colby, Colgate, Hamilton, Haverford, Wesleyan)
Your stats may be a little low for Wesleyan and Haverford, and roughly a match for the rest.

Private research universities
(Boston College, Brandeis, Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins, Tufts, University of Rochester)
Your stats may be a little low for Hopkins and Tufts, and roughly a match for the rest.

State universities
(Connecticut, Maryland, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Vermont)
Your stats may be a little high for these schools (depending on the program).

What type of schools do you want? For smaller LAC’s you can look at Bucknell, Colgate, Lafayette, Franklin & Marshall, Connecticut College, Bates, Colby, Holy Cross, Hamilton, Wesleyan, Skidmore, Union… For larger universities maybe NYU, GW, Hopkins, URochester, Lehigh, Carnegie Mellon,Tufts, Boston College, Brandeis
