What are the best and worst baby names?

@jym626, lol. What are the odds?!

One of my teachers was named Adolf lol.

A number of years ago, a radio announcer in Philly (we live near by) gave the announcement of a name that is really up there on the bad list: when the baby was emerging, the doctor said “look at all that meconium”. Mom liked the sound of that word, so the poor child was named Meconium Jones. (“what does your name mean?” “fetal poop”)

^^Sure sounds like another one of those urban legends.

Did a google. He’s number 415 http://www.jdbshow.com/bad_name.html

You’ll excuse me if I don’t trust a list that has no sources.

I worked at a day camp when I was in HS. One camper’s name was Semolina. Have to wonder if mom was reading a pasta box and liked the name.

I also know a kid who is named Yimo, which sounds like Emo…
I feel kinda bad for him.

I know a doctor whose last name is Butcher. You’d think that if your last name is “bad for business,” you’d change it.

there is a major donor at my kids’ undergrad whose last name is “Fail”. For a long time he wanted to purchase the naming rights of something at the school, but it just wasn’t appropriate…until it came time to for the school to sell the naming rights of the Visiting team’s dressing room…yes, it’s now called The Fail Room. lol

Re #1157 and #1165, yes, Sigourney Weaver was basically making fun of the interviewer, because she suspected that he would not get the joke about Regan and Goneril. The thing is, that Regan sounds like a perfectly plausible name, and I wouldn’t be surprised to find it in some use. It kind of appeals to me, aside from the association. You would think, though, that when Weaver got to “Goneril,” the reporter would have recognized that something was up!
(Sorry about the later response–just got back to this thread.)

Linda Blair’s character in the Exorcist was named Regan and I have a relative with that name.

There is a Norwegian chess player called Odd Lie (to add to the Odds already mentioned on this thread).

I know a gynecologist named Dr. Busch…

Bariatric surgeon aptly named Dr. Callery.

Even worse, I know an orthodontist named Dr. Rape…

My son’s pediatrician was Dr. Looney. I also felt kind of sorry for his kids.

I also went to high school with kids whose last name was Crotchtangle. I don’t believe she changed her name when she got married, either.

I just googled and she is #1991 on this list!

xiggi, shouldn’t Dr. Wang be a urologist?

I grew up with a girl named Tracey Tracey. She was definitely going to change it when she married!

Good one!
