What are the best SAT Vocabulary books?

I have “The Insider’s Complete Guide to SAT Vocabulary: The Essential 500 Words” by Larry Kreiger and, even though I see a lot of these words on the practice tests (I actually think that a lot of these words aren’t “top”, they’re just ones from the blue book tests), I don’t think 500 words is enough.

What are some good vocabulary books that have over 1000 words? I always hear about Barron’s 3500 word list but I couldn’t find a book that had 3500 words.

I know that vocab isn’t the only thing to study, but those are the questions I usually get wrong in CR (I usually get a 740-760 on practice tests).

Thanks :)

Direct hits! Both volumes.

Direct Hits, both volumes, are made by the same guy who did the book you’re using above. So I agree with the above poster.

You have all that is needed. Do not get direct hits as it is a lesser book than the Essential 500 words as the new one has more material. I do suggest memorizing, if you have time, sparknotes 1000 words FREE.

The Essential 500 Words is amazing! A great help!

DH, definitely. I found Larry Krieger’s book to be quite useless… Learned more words by reading “Inferno” by Dan Brown.

LOL @Mousemat I want to read that book so badly but I’m taking the test in October and I ain’t got time for that :P
