What are the chances of admission to L&S for international students?

I am applying as an international student without any financial aid. Someone told me that full playing international students tend to have a higher chance of admittance? im not sure how true this is though.

My grades are test scores are decent. 2280 on old sat and I have a predicted 44/45 for IB. However i dont know how much essays come into play? my essays are good, but nothing extraordinary as i talk about my love for music and my volunteer experiences. I dont think my essays would help me getting admitted. Just not sure how much they really account for in the admissions process. I do hear from some people that Berkeley focuses more on test scores and GPA compared to schools like uchicago or harvard

UCs generally focus more on GPA than test scores.

As an international student, you don’t have a choice in paying full fees because there is no financial aid for non-resident students. It is a California public university funded by the state of California.
Higher chance of admittance depends on GPA and test scores.
