What are the differences between Georgetown University and Cornell University?

What are the differences between Georgetown University and Cornell University?

In a nutshell:

Georgetown:
Urban
Washington D.C.
Jesuit
International Relations renown

Cornell:
Rural
Upstate New York
Ivy League
Engineering, Agricultural, Veterinary, Hotel Management renown

I agree with UCB, but I would add:

Georgetown (my father’s and sister’s alma matter):
-Urban (great part of DC too), but with a defined campus
-Jesuit, but not in-your-face
-Elite in International Relations and Pre-Law
-Strong in Business, Nursing and Political Science
-Great college to go to for careers in Law, Politics, Diplomacy, Management Consulting and Investment Banking
-No fraternities
-Strong Basketball program/tradition

Cornell (my sister’s and my own alma matter):
-Rural, but in a quaint and quirky college town in Upstate New York
-Ivy League
-Elite in every field of study. including Business, Engineering, Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, English, History, Political Science, Psychology, Pre-Law, Pre-Med, Agriculture, Architecture, Hotel Management, Industrial and Labor Relations, etc…
-Great college to go to for every single career known to humanity
-Large but not dominant fraternity scene
-Strong Hockey program and tradition

As one can clearly see, those two schools are both excellent but completely different.

Much more snow in Ithaca, NY than in Washington, DC, and the winter days are much shorter. On the flip side: gorgeous, loooonnng summer days in Ithaca with the mugginess of DC.

That should be “without the mugginess”.
