It was a surprisingly difficult question to get an answer to, we found.
Absolutely! The “why is this a thread” thread was not supposed to reference or snark on actual threads at all. If that’s what a comment does, it’s doing it wrong.
It is supposed to be, how trivial, silly can you make up as a thread.
As the OP, I declare it a non-snark zone.
Uh, carry on with this thread now. ![]()
I would say comments by people who inject themselves into discussions of issues about which they have no knowledge or experience whatsoever – like, say, one of the lengthy threads on Caitlyn Jenner, discussing trans issues – and offer definitive (but entirely unfounded) “opinions” based on nonsense and misinformation. And who then complain about being picked on and persecuted when others point out just how uninformed they are.
Not sure how this thread is any different from the “most annoying threads” thread.
Oh well, I’ll still play:
The ones where anytime someone disagrees with a poster, he accuses them of having poor reading comprehension skills, or calls their logic “dumb,” “stupid,” “childish,” etc.
Quick trip to CC jail.
^^^^Actually, no, probably because those names were applied to posters’ “logic” as opposed to the actual posters. Walking a pretty fine line, but apparently successfully.
There was a thread about a woman helping a friend through a divorce. I had one cc poster who was an attorney pm me a long nasty note telling me I should sit in on a divorce case in court. Having had gone through something like that I was beyond words and blocked the person from sending me messages and informed a senior poster. I should have reported it. That note definitely crossed the line.
I don’t get the rules, so I’m gonna stand on the sidelines until I do. Carry on!
