What are the dumbest/most insensitive comments/threads you read?

I love CC and CC people. It has been my best information source about colleges/FA and other stuff.

However we all see some people who throw the most incomprehensible posts in threads, right? what are some you have seen?

I will start:

No Greek life in **** country? Are people in *** country not sociable like Americans?

There are people will derail every thread they post in with nonsense and misinformation. Sometimes the derailed threads are chat, but sometimes they involve someone seeking information who then don’t get what they sought.

“Chance me, I’ll chance you back”

Blind leading the blind.

Is this thread really different than the “why is this a thread?” Thread?

Snarky responses like this to dumb threads like this.

Is this thread really different than the “most annoying threads” thread?

Not on CC, but I just love the Tripadvisor reviews of modest, inexpensive European hotels where the reviewer complains that the desk clerk barely spoke English.

I think there is already a thread for this, as is mentioned above. I’ll share anyways:

“If you have to ask X question then maybe you’re not ready for college.”

“I have a 3.3 WGPA and I got a 19 on the ACT, can I get into Stanford/MIT/Ivi’s?”

@awesomepolyglot But if you tell him that they are out of reach you are crushing his dreams.

Not as badly as the rejection letter @TomSrOfBoston

@TomSrOfBoston call me a sadist, but it kinda thrills me to tell kids “zero chance for Stanford with 19ACT”. Basically I m laughing at their beyond unrealistic hopes.

@paul2752 omg same

I think it is time to revive the Meta Thread.

@paul2752

“But my dad’s accountant has a client who is a Stanford grad, he’ll get me in!”

How about the “you wouldn’t know because you’re not <insert religion,=”" race,="" gender,="" sexual="" orientation,="" ethnicity,="" geography,="" ses,="" etc.="" here="">" comments in response to someone giving their opinion?

Like some unknown person on the internet has a corner on the experience of being whatever category they call themselves. And that the assumption is that if you don’t agree with them, you don’t have the experience, and your comments/advice is “nonsense” and “misinformation”.

Just what power does a mere alumni have to get you in? NONE! PM me that thread please

“What are the admission requirements for X university?” Followed by “What opportunities are there for freshman research there?”

My freshman D2 researched at her college… just saying. :slight_smile:

@intparent I was referring to posters here on CC who ask basic questions that could be easily looked up (researched) on the colleges’ websites and then inquire about freshman research.
