Ones that read like the poster is writing a magazine article.
^ Even worse with few paragraph breaks. Almost considered suggesting to the poster who’s kid was having trouble sleeping that they have them read these super mega-long posts. Great sleep agent!
I find it exhausting to read CC these days (but I just can’t help myself)!

If you apply ED and they accept you, you need to go. Run the NPC before hand and make sure it spits out a number you’re comfortable with. No, you can’t compare merit. In the event NPC is completely off-base and you really can’t afford it, then fine, but that’s the exception, not the rule. And telling us on page 5 of the comments after you’ve already been bashed that the post was merely “theoretical” doesn’t help.

Yes it sucks that the middle class gets squeezed. Would you really have preferred to live in poverty for decades, so that your child could get the “big money” financial aid? No. So stop complaining, figure out what your best options are and pick one.

A 780 on the Math 2 SAT test is not the end of the world. It will not be the difference between you getting in to your top school or not. And to complain about how horrible a score it is makes you sound really immature and tone deaf.
Rant over. Back to the Latest Posts!
And don
And don’t retake a 780 Math 2. You 'll just look like a grade grubber.
Also annoying are the threads where the OP tried to dictate what will/will not be acceptable as a response and then announces they are closing their thread. Um, no, ya can’t do that.
A current thread in which a parent, not the OP, is arguing that the "changing landscape’ of higher education makes it perfectly acceptable to renege on an Ed agreement if they get a better offer from another school. after all, the Ed agreement is jus another piece of paper.
^That is the one that pushed me over the edge, though there are plenty of ED threads to be annoyed with.
I saw that magazine quality post Must say, we have many good writers on CC, but that seemed to be a first, to me.
When a thread contains this post: “Wow, these admissions people are bigger racists than the KKK. Why has our education system come to this?”, it has completely jumped the shark.
For me it is this one! It won’t go away!!! 8-}
Posts where the OP’s first post to CC is to complain about being rejected from a large Midwestern University despite having near perfect stats and having 8 (yes, 8) older siblings who graduated from there. The only additional posts this person has made to CC is to continue that thread and the discussion about whether or not his support of a certain Republican candidate is what killed his app.
I could also do without the spamming of the translation thread by a student who’s linking article after article after article to prove that a certain race is being discriminated against. You don’t need to copy us on the Bakke case. Many of us old enough to remember the original news articles.
I am happy that I seem to have missed most of this latest batch. Unless they are all about me, LOL!
Okay, I take that back. There is someone who has started posting listicle-like things on all-too familiar topics. ARGH.
Posts where the student is asking about scholarships and financial aid to a top tier university and somewhere on the second page you learn the student is an international student and that all the advice given probably doesn’t pertain to them. Those questions would probably be better answered on the International Student Forum.
The ones where people confuse this with a professional medical advice site.
Lvvcsf, posters so focused on aid opportunities, they can’t see the kid has a very slim shot at an admit. Those percentages are not A’s. They’re maybe B- or C.
Sigh…Besides the ED posts, we are now getting someone advocating multiple deposits after the May 1st decision. Because he can do what he wants.
Ones where a guy copy and pastes the same “LOOK AT ME LOOK AT ME” thing in every thread he has previously left droppings in.
Yeah. Notice how the thread is still open even though he tagged me to close it?
The threads where the OP orders me not to post anymore in his thread because I told him a college is a reach.
That one who keeps saying versions of “my money, my rights.” Well then find a college desperate for your kid.
Ones where families want need based aid so they don’t have to spend extra income they earn.
