What are the most annoying threads on CC?

I’m waiting for someone to create the username “Pecksniffery”.

As for repeating I doubt if anyone is going to read all 151 pages of this thread.

^Ha! is pecksniffery real? I’m going to use it in conversation today!

@austinmshauri , I’m not sure we are old. Some of these kids think 27 is old, so I must be ancient, or dead!!

Im not old as long as Jane Fonda is older.

My Dad said he never felt old until he found out that the Pope is younger than he is.

Threads where students say they can’t pay for test scores but when they realize there’s really no other options suddenly they “decide” they can pay!

@HRSmom, When DD and I were at the gym recently she complained that “some old person” helped her set the weights and assumed that because she’s small she can’t lift much. I saw the trainer and I’d guess she might be pushing forty. DH and I must seem very old to her.

I like to just mess with my kids about being old. I’ll ask them when they are texting if they are on their “twitter machine”, or I call all their video games “Atari”

I first felt old over 35 years ago when some intern in our office mentioned how she studied The Beatles in music class.

Yeah, DH complained about history kids focusing on the 70’s and 80’s, as if it were ancient.

Other day, at a meeting, a couple of people couldn’t recognize the Muzak playing. A 20-something claimed it was something old, only old people would know. Uh no. Any of us here would have recognized it was some contemporary jazz mix. How old? 2016?

I teasingly named one of my teams “the Magnificent Seven”. I told them one had to shave his head and the other could be Steve McQueen. Crickets.

This thread is only up to page 152 with 2271/2272 posts. Just look at “How much do YOU think YOU need to retire? …and at what age will you (and spouse) retire?” posts 9929 and 662 pages.

The old discussion here was a good laugh for the day. It is gratifying that as young people age, they get a new perspective on what is ‘old’.

Hey, I look at MIL/FIL at H and my age, and we look GOOD!

So back to this thread. Most annoying to me is where parents/students may think they are really good in some area of their life, so they think they know the college situation even though they are truly clueless - by working off old info or not realizing very dynamic paradigm. Then you PM them to clue them in, and they still have cobwebs keeping them from really understanding.

Some need to learn from mistakes, and some are too arrogant to admit - so they throw a lot of money to educate their student through UG degree.

Dynamic, indeed.
Shortcut your understanding, at your own risk.

Where do these kids get the idea they can take out $160k in unsecured debt without a cosigner?

From all those college visits where they tell them, don’t worry about the cost…they never figure out the monthly but on those loans either!

Where it is necessary to leave the state, no matter what variety of schools and/or variety of climates.

They can’t stay in state because everyone from HS will be in all their classes with them.
Besides, it’s their dream to go to school in CA.

@zeebamom I have destroyed the dreams of many OOS UC hopefuls here on CC by telling then that there is no financial aid for OOS at the UC’s.

Are you a Pearls before Swine fan based on your screen name?

Posts that don’t add any value to a thread but where they are simply looking for an opportunity to argue with other posters.

@TomSrOfBoston I am a fan. Some days, it’s the only thing that keeps me going.
