@Tanbiko Yeah, it’s been going on since that poster joined. A lot of gaming from a parent whose own view is narrow.
Thats funny. No overtime and an office and nice salary? Not possible! Plus, depending on what facilies are doing with “open plan”, I lose my office now and then, even at the senior levels…but, the kid can wear a suit at least:)
Oh My! I was able to guess the OP based on your comments!
I don’t know who this poster is, but if you are against vaccination, a site that specializes in informed posters using verified published data to illustrate a point is probably not a good place for you.
Yep, I lost that window spot a few times, too. One great job, the sort where I could really speak my mind, craft my own work, little politics, had the worst bathrooms. Lol. Another, where we had the doormen, etc, I loved the work and clients but the boss was useless. It happens. You’re in it for the long term climb. Or not. Her D could be window dressing for a nice firm and feel the suit vibe. Mom doesn’t get it. Annoying comes from her not getting that she doesn’t get it.
Threads that devolve into how the application process sh/could be redesigned.
@thumper1 There’s a girl in my graduating class in that same situation. Parents are both successful chemists, made enough that dad could quit his job and create a beer company, upscaled their house, yet still made her foot all her college expenses through loans. I guess some parents just don’t see their child’s education as a priority.
Threads where posters apparently have forgotten what they have written in numerous past threads.
If posters write that they are “feared” by people in their lives I am going to believe them. But don’t lay the fallout from that dynamic at our doorstep – take your own advice and look inward.
“I lied on my application - what should I do?” Sigh.
I only want my parents to pay for me to attend a college I will enjoy. And it doesn’t matter if they can really afford it…or not.
The ones where the (petulant) poster makes a new post to add a thought to the post they just posted less than a minute ago.
(Wow, lotsa P’s there ~:> )
Too many hit the Reply button under another poster’s comments, reply one by one, instead of collecting their thoughts in the main Reply box at the bottom of a page.
Chance me threads even though they’re sort of the back bone of CC. How can I, or you, say whether or not someone’s getting into the college?
^Yes, especially since the consensus of the parents on this forum seems to be such threads are almost universally useless?
I didn’t even know the individual reply button existed. Huh.
In general - threads where parents post that their kid wants to be a 1) doctor 2) lawyer or 3) CEO. Does the kid want that, or does the parent…?
@whitespace Why can’t students want those professions? Very common dream jobs.
@itsgettingreal17 You’re absolutely right. For a long time, I wanted to be a lawyer myself, and I admire people that do follow those professions. It just sort of bugs me when I read a parent’s post and feel like they might be pushing their kid into a “typical” or “high-paying” job. Maybe I’m reading too far into things.
Chance Me threads where the OP rates their own essay (it’s always great btw)
^^ I always have a bit of hope for the few that are self-aware enough to at least add a disclaimer that they’re not necessarily the best judges of it, even though they think it’s good.
