What are the most annoying threads on CC?

@Ballerina016 - the things you’re defending are exactly the things @LuckyCharms913 is okay with

I get rather annoyed at fantasy posts. This is where the OP will give a list (usually of elite schools) and wants to know which is best. Sometimes they’ve applied, sometimes it’s before they apply. If they applied an opinion doesn’t matter until they know where they’ve been accepted. If they haven’t yet I’m annoyed because they really haven’t focused on anything other than reputation and there is far too much information needed to really help them. It’s kind of like saying I’m looking at BMWs, Mercedes, Jaguars, Lexus, … Which one is best? Then you find out their budget is $20k.

Others have posted this before, but it resurfaces and is annoying. Threads where the poster really wants to vent (there is a thread for that) or solicit support for their POV. They claim they are looking for opinions/feedback, but by the responses it does not seem so. They seem to have formed their opinion and are looking for others to agree. When posters ask questions or suggest other options, they either get somewhat defensive, sometimes hostile, or just ignore the posts they don’t like. If they are just looking for support- then say so. If they really don’t want to hear other possibilities, don’t ask for it. Its disingenuous. And annoying.

Kids who desperately need help but totally don’t listen or appreciate it.

It concerns me when high school students post sincere questions and adults respond disrespectfully. Many lose sight if the fact that many of these are children, not adults with years of experience in the “real world.”

It has a lot to do with how a hs kid presents him/herself. Genuinely looking for info and processing what posters say- or not? Basically informed before asking or trying to side step his own research?

So, one annoying thing is when the college info clearly provides the answer. Or a quick, simple googling will lead you to the info.

Or those questions ridiculously open-ended: what colleges will I be happy at?

Plenty of kids on CC, lol. Some super great ones. But many who go on hearsay.

There’s a difference between being unkind and just delivering an opinion others don’t want to hear. There are errors, for instance, and there are errors – putting the wrong race on your app, inaccurately reporting parental assets, uncertainty about which parent you live with most until you consult the EFC results – all of these are going to generate some responses, and not all of them are going to be that everything will be fine. That doesn’t mean posters are being unkind.

The threads where there are footnotes to the posts…

This mini-subthread simply cries out for a “Yo, Dawg” meme, you know?

(Yo, Dawg, I’m complaining about your thread in your thread complaining about threads/So that you can complain about threads while you complain about threads!)

Yo, indeed. See, this thread serves its purpose. :)>-

MODERATOR’S NOTE:
I deleted 15 posts about the relationships between students and adults on these threads not because is was too much “me too/I agree” (which it was), but because it was basically a continuation from another thread with the same 2 users that a mod (not me) closed as a result of the bickering.

Thread for a California most applied university where two students trying to veto parents posting.

MODERATOR’S NOTE:

I set them straight.

Ones where new posters come in guns a blazing with explatives that are “starred” out.

MODERATOR’S NOTE:

To be fair, the poster in question was giving a shout out to the college. It’s just unfortunate that the University of South Carolina has a mascot with a name that will be filtered by our system.

LOL- the gamec0cks

Thread where parent is upset and complaining of the unfairness of it all that the applicant cannot change their highly competitive major, to which they have been accepted, at a highly competitve flagship university.

@skieurope I am referring to a post that had previously been moderated with the first 2 letters Fu

Going out on a limb here and guessing the third /final letter in tht word was not an “n”.
