What are the most annoying threads on CC?

No @Consolation I don’t have a “tough luck” opinion. My statement was know that things may change at any time and if that is something that one is uncomfortable with, maybe a different school would be a better choice .

Okay, so we are in agreement: stay away from Catholic and other religious colleges unless you are completely comfortable with a very overt, very strong expression of religious identity on campus, even if that is not what the school currently does or says.

That’s fine.

The thread where people are bashing a Stanford admit for writing #BlackLivesMatter x100 for his “What Matters” essay. It just feels a little ridiculous to me to critique him when anyone on CC knows very little about him/his other accomplishments- whether or not you agree with what he did, Stanford saw fit to accept him so stop being jealous.

No @Consolation , I am not in agreement with you.

There’s one thread in College Life, where I can’t believe the OP’s story is real. I can’t get more specific without giving it away.

Okay, well I give up then.

Parents who are unhappy their kids didn’t get into the SCHOOL after writing the essay for their kids.

@gr8pl8 The parents who say “we applied” and "we were rejected’. :((

@TomSrOfBoston
The parents who say “we applied” and “he/she didn’t try hard enough.”

Posts where the mods are so on the job that they get poofed before I get a chance to read them (I’m assuming they weren’t nice, but still…)

Trust me, you did not miss much.

^^Yeah we eventually figured it out and were disappointed. :stuck_out_tongue: It was more fun when it was a mystery.

Does Sherlock Holmes have post-mystery letdown?

My DD 's year thread that seems to be completely populated by potential NMF’s looking for substantial $$$ or perks.

The 3.0 - 3.4 GPA threads where the kid has a 32 and up ACT (or similar SAT). No your kid is not average.

What’s wrong with wants $$$ and perks?

Nothing, it just seems to dominate the conversation to the exclusion of other topics.

Nothing wrong with seeking $$$ and perks @itsgettingreal17 when it’s done on the appropriate thread . I understand that any thread on CC is open to any poster, but it can be frustrating when a thread is generated for the “average” student and parents or students that are clearly not in that demographic dominate the thread with topics that are clearly better suited for "above average " students. JMO

And there are other threads for that.

“my DD’s year thread” seems to be the appropriate place for such posts as most on their have high achieving students. I do agree that the high test score posters on the 3.0-3.4 thread are annoying and posting in the wrong place.

Posters who seem to get every single thread they start closed and locked.

^I’ve started closing threads in which the OP expresses contempt/dislike for just about every single answer he or she receives. Those threads just lead to insults on both sides!
