What are the most annoying threads on CC?

I think we need to show the age and grade number next to our profile names so that many desperate, anxious high school kids won’t be mislead by some inexperienced middle school kids or equally oblivious high school kids.

Probably already been said many times, many ways, but threads about maxing out retirement contributions, owning rental properties, hundreds of thousands in non-retirement savings, hefty pension down the road - “Why is my EFC so high?”

Threads where OPs are posting the same question that they asked a week ago, even when the question was thoroughly answered in the earlier thread.

Threads where the poster asks if family’s $million-plus home will reduce the amount of FA.

Yes! When certain posters post, other posters are sure to respond to chide and chastise. And it goes on and on, back and forth. Why don’t they take it to private messages? Those posters that always respond negatively to certain posters think their thoughts are so important that everyone else has to read them? Why can’t they ignore the posters that irk them so?

Right. Now let’s see if the posters who always have to set certain posters straight understand this and try to point the finger at someone else (such as anyone who dares to criticize their posting style).

Some posters think they are self appointed thread hall monitors, and say the same thing over and over. They come in as sanctimonious lecturers who seem to think its their job not to contribute to a conversation but to come in as a self appointed thread hall monitors simply to scold or chide posters, and ignore the fact that they are being hypocritical by chastising posters for doing what they feel is chastising other posters. Enough already. If they think a post is against the TOS they can report it through the proper channels and the powers that be will address it if its really an issue. If they don’t like a post they are free to not read it, or ignore the posters. If they want to take on the responsibility of moderating they can request to be considered to be one.

Now lets get back to talking about the THREADS that are annoying and not the POSTERS. Ironic and hypocritical.Sheesh.

So, uh, this ISN’T the thread where we’re supposed to list what annoys us on other threads? (I thought Nottelling was pretty funny above when s/he listed THIS thread.

LOL, garland. You are right, though the thread title is about annoying THREADS. Some other posters seem to like to find a reason, like a post from over a week ago, to come in to again play thread mommy. If its ok to say that is annoying, well, yes, that is annoying!! If they dislike posts that they feel critique other posters, maybe they shouldn’t critique other posters!!!

A number of posts on this thread have been about different kinds of threadjackings. It’s been a pretty consistent theme–sort of a sub-theme. I was surprised to see mine pop up again.

But, this can quickly devolve into a threadjacking itself! So I’ll bow out!

 FWIW, I totally agree with your post that was dredged up from over a week ago. Now, dredging it up as an indirect way to scold, thats annoying. Ok, enough said. Moving on.

Well, I didn’t feel negative about it showing up again; I supposed I’ve quoted from others’ past posts before. I just don’t feel the same urgency about my own past post this morning as i guess I did when I wrote it.

Anyway, I said I wasn’t going to post again on this and here I am!–whoops! totally leaving thread now, carry on!

Well, as one who sometimes enjoys irony, its amusing when someone posts front channel to suggest that posters can or should post back channel, and feel that the front channel posts are there out of some self importance by being read by others. Why don’t they send a back channel message? Unless they want all to see their finger wagging? Ah, entertaining irony.
Oh wait, this is supposed to be about complaining, not being amused/entertained. Nevermind

Carry on. Time for morning coffee.

It’s more than amusing when someone who posts endless posts to chide certain posters is now accusing those who post JUST A FEW posts of criticism. Pot…kettle…etc.

There is a big difference between posters with many posts, only a relatively small percentage of which may be a comment on a poster’s post content, vs the poster with very few posts, the significant majority of which seem not at all about the thread topic, and they are not seeming to participate in the discussion, but are essentially only seeming to enter a thread and post in order to chastise posters. Enough already. Make use of the ignore feature.

Threads where the horse has been dead thousands of posts ago.

Any threads with:

  1. “I took math 1 and 2, is it okay?”
  2. “My first language is ____ and took SAT subject _____ language test. Is it bad?”
  3. “where should I apply?”(without any information about OP"s stats and preference)

OMG I just looked back at this threat, it is a good thing I am not applying to a fancy college :frowning:

Let this be a warning to all you prospective music majors : the first thing to go is the hearing. then apparently, the spelling.

What does the spelling have to do with?

I forget if I already mentioned this one but threads where the OP asked a question and gets responses but never comes back to read them or respond to requests for clarification. Ugh.

@paul2752 self deprecating comment on my post #255 <<(singersdad carefully checks spell check lol)
