hahaha, yeah bad spelling also can be annoying. I doubt that OP had fat fingers hahah
I’ve worked a 10 hour surgery today, come back to read CC and all I can come up with to some of these posts is REALLY PEOPLE? As the guys on ESPN say, “C’MON, MAN!”
LOL. I think I need a drink.
@Nrdsb4 how was the surgery?
This thread may be a nice one to vent out your stress and fatigue
^^^The surgery was LONG and I never got a lunch break, never got a break to grab a drink of water, and never got a bathroom break after I left my house at 5:30 am.
TMI?
I was so tired when I got home, I sat down and read a few CC threads, then got up to go to the kitchen, and I could barely move. I’m getting too old for this.
But I just poured Chardonnay into a Cabernet glass, so I’ll be fine shortly, lol!
Nrdsb4, I think you can be forgiven (for using the Cabernet glass for Chardonnay) ;).
^^^LOL! Yeah, the Cab glass is a bit bigger than the Chardonnay one, and today that is just what my body demands. Just don’t tell my MIL about the glass faux pas!
How about threads you join late, and the last post is so far from the original topic that you don’t even want to try to follow how it got there.
Operator.
@rhandco I think we needs to give him a break.
There are some other annoying type of thread
1)when a student asks for a chance and gets some unfavorable responses, s/he then proceeds to compare someone else in CC-who’s in “similar” situation-got in XXX school with similar stats.
Yeah stats may be similar but that doesn’t mean these two will be evaluated equally.
- Thread where an OP has an unimpressive grade and test scores but boasts about how successful his/her businesses are AND the OP heavily implies that s/he is entitled to be admitted by prestigious schools.
There was one thread in chance forum that was written by an extremely pretentious, arrogant and greedy student with less than 3.0 GPA but made some money off his lucrative business, and asked for IVY LEAGUE chances. Seriously? Lots of people threw stones at him because he wrote how so many people go to Ivy league for prestige ONLY, therefore he is no different from any of us, and that money is the most important thing in his life. He wanted to flaunt his “success” during his “hardship.”
Int’l students asking if they qualify for FA after they have been admitted.
Does that really happen?
I wouldn’t have mentioned it, if i hadn’t seen it.
People who rely TOO MUCH on “holistic admission”
Threads by people who arrive on CC and immediately post a thread with an unbelievable/ridiculous/baffling/provocative scenario that is responded to by well-meaning members.
I agree with so many posts on this thread!
Personally, I don’t like topical threads by ranters who believe they should be entitled to force everyone else to do what they want, by force of law, if possible.
Some people will do what you want because they have deemed it best. Other people will make varying decisions in accordance with their own circumstances, whether those reasons are financial, health, religious, occupational, etc… Deal with it.
I do enjoy current news threads where people are respectful and can actually entertain opposing points of view. It does happen, so I’m happy when I see that.
What about:
“I am 3.0 gpa and 1700 sat but my grandfather is a donor and an alumni to Harvard. Can I get in?”
If I were that grandpa I would DISCOURAGE my grandson from applying.
Threads where it appears that a rejected student, or parent of a rejected student, comes on to bash a college.
Or people who post their stats in a thread and say " Oh we are so similar!Good luck!"
Such a phony
Any thread that talks about “hypothetical situations”. Come on…it’s hard enough to deal with actual happenings. What is the point in made up possible scenarios?
When adults snipe at each other because they don’t agree on any given subject. It’s disappointing when people , especially parents take comments to that level .
When high schoolers - usually freshmen/sophomores, but not always - bemoan how their life is ruined/they are a complete failure because of a) making one B- in a class b) not being able to take what will be the “old” SAT c) not being allowed to do a certain EC c) having parents that make “too much” money for financial aid. (And then proceed to make four or five threads about it.)
It’s a hard life.
