When people ask the same detailed question under a new screen name because they didn’t like the answers they got the first time and hope it will somehow have a different result.
When the OP leaves out key info in the initial post, then jumps all over u for your ignorant reply because u didn’t have ESP to know all the critical extenuating background circumstances in the OP’s life.
The ones where people ask “How do I get into [insert very selective school, usually Harvard]” and expect a laid out, proven formula, and other such “Ivy or bust” mentality threads.
Completely oblivious international students who don’t bother using google and keep asking same questions when we answered in somewhat indirect ways
Any thread that begins with the words, “My dad says…”
Most threads that say:
“We are middle-class, so…”
Or “My parents are divorced and my wealthy noncustodial parent won’t pay for college, so I should get more grants”.
^^^ a variation on that:
My parents have big mortgage, car & credit card payments bcs our neighborhood is expensive, so I should get more grants.
But really,if parents are not willing to pay a single cent(I have no idea why), what should a student do?
Internationals who expect to come here and attend US colleges on our dime. Let me know when schools in there countries start accepting US kids for free.
@MADad that depends. Can’t a foreign student in 3rd world country have a dream?
Get in line. 1st world American students also have a dream of attending US schools on someone else’s dime.
Yeah I know that too XD but I dont want people to bash at foreign kids either
Threads where people who have never lived in a state want to find some way to game the system and pay in state tuition.
Any thread that smacks of “gaming” the system annoys me. But the worst gamers are threads by white kids who are stretching things or resorting to technicalities in an attempt to deceive schools into classifying them as URMs.
When someone starts numerous threads about the same topic, like Greek life.
Whining threads from upper income kids about how “poor” they are
Am new here but I don’t understand threads asking for generic info such as “chance me” or “what school should I go to”. There are numerous sites that you can input your data and get an estimated outcome of your chances, and so much general information online on schools to help decide where to look.
@Gr8One those websites are far from being accurate because it leaves out personal aspects of students. For example, according to Parchment.com I had better chance to get into Vassar college than other peers but I was flat out rejected(not that I trusted it)? Why? Financial reason.
Another example of annoying thread: Hi, I am from XXX country, has X.XX GPA(usually not even close to 3.5) and I want to know what schools can give me good need based aids without perfect GPA.
International students asking for free rides.
