What are the most annoying threads on CC?

The silly, pretty obvious fake threads about being the greatest thing since sliced bread and having done everything as an EC short of perfecting cold fusion. These silly posters waste the time and energy of the very kind posters here who take these threads seriously and share their time, energy and opinions.

Forgot to add, the fake threads are a waste of time, but can be entertaining sometimes…

Help! I want to transfer to an Ivy League! Chance me a transfer to UPenn or Harvard! Thanks

@paul2752 just go,over to financial aid. There are plenty of threads right now from international students who are looking for full free rides…and want to know where to find them.

I always want to reply “do the colleges in YOUR country offer full fre rides to non-citizens?”

Just all the threads where OP asks a question, receives several thoughtful answers and is never heard from again.

Or, actually, more annoying than that is the above scenario where the OP continues to post in other parts of CC but never acknowledges the responses to his/her post.

Or,where the OP really only posted because he or she thought everyone would agree with them…and when posters didn’t agree, the OP just argued back or kept posting the same question over and over (thank you to the moderators for closing those).

When OP asks for chances at a particular school and includes “stats” such as “I predict that I’ll get at least a 2300 SAT, perfect or near perfect CR and Math, probably at least a 34 ACT, and will be able to raise my UW GPA from a 3.4 to a 3.9 by the end of the semester” … Or when they ask for chances somewhere but have barely a semester or two of high school under their belt…

Questions about how much studying a certain major will interfere with partying, because that is the purpose of college, partying.

Any chances for college earlier than junior year. Any transfer threads. Any thread in which people guess about their scores. Any thread that asks an easily Googled question. Any thread in which OP disparages dissenters.

NorthernMom61—the corollary to that request is “what major requires the least amount of studying, yet would allow me to get the highest paying job?”

The “which schools have the best pre-med major?” threads.

The ones that get derailed by irrelevant personal questions/comments or erroneous information.

@MADad I actually did respond to such thread only to be lashed back at for “judging” the OP.

The questions are fine, it’s when the answer is always “Alabama”

Self-made four-tiered college ranking systems made to include one’s regional college far higher than it ever would be.

ANY thread that references “tiers” as if they were a real thing. Or references imaginary differences between a school ranked 30 (by USNews, but without attribution) and, say, a school ranked 5. As if these numbers really told you where you’d learn more stuff and learn it better and have more fun doing it.

The thread where the OP clearly has a personal issue with a specific race and no one in the subsequent 10 pages of comments takes issue with it.

Threads where posters present anecdotal data or personal opinions as fact and when questioned on the source of their data , become defensive and insulting.

Agreed. Or cite statistics to bolster their argument, but refuse to link to the source of their statistics, insisting that it’s not their responsibility and that the reader should research it if they (the reader) doesn’t want to simply swallow their posts whole without verification.

@Nrdsb4 what kind of posters do that???
