What are the most annoying threads on CC?

@paul2752, I could say, but I might get in trouble?

I think it was in one of the many threads that turned into a gun control debate.

Ones about financial aid questions in which a commenter makes a blanket declaration that no one should be applying SCEA to a school unless they plan to go to that school without comparing financial aid packages/merit scholarships that come in the RD round. Ummm, no.

@Nrdsb4 why not just PM me?

Threads that diverge off into “what is middle class”…

Nearly all of them? :>

Threads where 17 year olds complain that their parents are “only” going to give them 25,000 per year for college even though they believe their parents can afford more.

^^^but are parents-who can definitely afford-supposed to help with college kids paying for college, provided that the school isn’t too extravagant and that the kids are hard-working students?

I definitely would if I could. I have seen many parents who think their kids should take care of the college costs, even though I really dont know how students can make 25000$(in state colleges) per year

The ones that the OP posts on 10 different forums…

Threads where people cannot handle a joke. :-S ~X(

I happen to believe that GIVING a kid $100000 toward an education for four years is pretty darn generous. I am not sure 17 year olds are good judges of what their parents can or cannot afford or even how much money $100000 actually is. And what urks me is how ungrateful some students sound when their parents are giving them this amount of money for school.

I don’t think parents should raise their kids with the expectation that they will go to college with everything that goes into that, then do nothing to support that financially if they can actually afford to help. However, I think it is okay if wealthy parents don’t want to fund a private education even if they can afford it if they don’t want to, since there are many great less expensive public options across our country.

ANY thread that looks at any kid’s grades and suggests Community College.

Community College is a great option. But it’s not the only option for anyone. It’s used a lot here as a way to say “you’re too stupid for college” without getting your post edited or getting in trouble from the mods.

Any thread where a person suggests community college and everyone immediately responds with " no you shouldn’t do that you are too smart to attend a cc".

I fall for it every time. Threads ostensibly asking advice when in reality the thread is about a parents wish to advertise their kids achievement. Advice given and parent eventually offended. All because they really were not looking for advice.

Threads entitled “Can I get into Collage?” with a GPA and score following, but no mention of what college, state, etc.

Threads that spells college as “collage”

I find myself getting annoyed by a question on say page 5 or 6 of a thread that was clearly answered on page 1 or 2!

(I also stayed up past midnight & I’m a little grumpy this morning  Happy New Year!)

^ironically, I had a similar response previously. (Oct 1).

As much as I agree with you it’s not really surprising. I’m sure we all do some version of this to some degree when threads get too long. (Though if the answer or resolution was in the first or second page there’s even less of an excuse)
My previous answer:

Threads where the OP has been called on something outrageous they’ve said, they come back and say that upon reflection, they realize they were wrong or harsh or whatever, and then people continue to dogpile on the OP because they haven’t bothered to read any of the thread.

Threads where the OP has identified specific attributes such as geographic location , size etc and people offer suggestions which clearly do not meet any of the criteria identified . Also threads where people feel the need to trash some of the previously recommended schools based purely on their personal bias, not objective data.

“Also threads where people feel the need to trash some of the previously recommended schools based purely on their personal bias, not objective data.”

Usually they got rejected there. Lol
