The NYU bashing threads where people spend a lot of energy trashing a school that 1. They didn’t attend 2. Their child didn’t/doesn’t attend 3. Isn’t forcing anyone to apply or attend.
Threads where people have very rigid opinions and advice regarding schools that they have only researched online and have never visited or plan to visit .
Threads where one poster preaches about one particular school that he or she attends and trashed other schools. I remember one poster that kept saying Duke is harder to get in than Dartmouth and that Duke is more rigorous than Dartmouth.
The threads where someone’;s precious little snowflake is excused from things most every HS senior should be able to do.
Threads where a parent is asking for advice on a certain kind of car to get for his student and people start telling him that they would NEVER buy a car for their kid, that all 7 of their kids share one jalopy, or that they never had a car until they were 40, or that they never buy new cars and keep them until they have 250k miles on them, or until parts start falling off it on the highway, or go on about how kids are spoiled these days, etc., etc. And no one gives him any advice about a good car to buy for his student.
Threads where a general comment is made and someone takes it personally and gets all huffy and inflammatory.
PSAT. 'Nuff said.
Posts where commentators give exact percentages about the likelihood of someone getting into somewhere like UChicago, and try to justify it by adding and subtracting percentage points based on race and SAT.
Threads where someone asks a question about a perfectly legal and legitimate way of planning to reduce their EFC and/or get more need-based FA, and everyone immediately jumps all over them on moral grounds, assumes they want to commit fraud, etc. And this from people who probably don’t think twice about some “questionable” deductions on their tax returns, or setting up a trust to qualify for Medicaid when they need long-term care.
^ I’m offended by that general statement.

Threads where parents brag about how early their kids got their apps in.
Threads where posters think some “study” or statistics officially settles the issue being discussed.

Threads where the OP assumes all majority white Southern universities are “staunchly conservative” and racism. Yikes.
Actually - any thread but the Soup Thread. The Soup Thread wins best thread of the year.

Also, “which type of engineering has the least amount of math? I don’t like math”.
People saying they have such a bad GPA then having a GPA like a 3.7 or 3.6 when neither of those are bad GPA’s it kills me!!!
