@GMTplus7 I know I’ve been following and exercising great restraint.
@GMTplus7 And it gets worse. Arrogance at its best.
hmmm- I just had to read that thread after all of your comments.
I don’t think I’d ever want that stressed-out/ in-debt nurse taking care of me. [-(
I just went over to the linked thread, and the boggling started with
Just so long as the poster isn’t a geography major, I suppose.
^^^ I was wondering about that …
I stirred the pot a little just now. Couldn’t resist. Thanks for sending me over there to rubberneck.
Can we give that thread some sort of prize?
Technically, a wee bit of the Trail winds through NJ. But I never heard it referred to as the Appalachian “Mountains.” I think, more a subset of a subset.
The poster said she lives the mountain lifestyle in NJ. Maybe that part of Jersey is near the river called de Nile? I bet money grows on trees next to it.
What do we expect from a poster whose screen name is allthingsunknown…
Ones where the OP believes that they have control over who does and doesn’t respond on an open forum.
“Hi, I never lived in CA and am sending my wife to play with the system. It’s unfair not to get in state rate!”
LAWLZ
Threads where people list out every single extracurricular they’ve participated in since birth.
Ex. 3rd grade county spelling bee winner, elementary level poetry honorable mention, etc.
Well, I had to go look at thread started by the Appalachian Jersey girl, too. She’s ignorant. And so is her family!
“I let my mom kind of help me choose which colleges to apply to and didn’t actually apply to places that may have more seriously interested me and I deeply regret it.”
“I have not sought advice from the Financial Aid & Scholarships forum because I feel as if my family knows a lot when it comes to those things considering I am the youngest of 3.”
Technically there is a little piece of the Appalachian mountains in NJ.
This OP is getting advice/opinions that he does not want to hear:
"Can a moderator close this thread or edit some of the posts? It’s clearly gone way off track from the original post. People like @CCer are just here to disparage me. "
I don’t like this thread because it has become a place to personally rip specific posters and I think that’s wrong.
I also hate it when people try to close down threads. Although I don’t like this thread I would never try to shut it down. I’d just stop reading it.
I don’t know if @sax is referring to my last post, but it was really made out of frustration, not to rip anybody. It was like watching a train wreck in slow motion. And it appears saner folks than I have now offered some great advice, accomplishing what I had been trying to facilitate all along when I suggested (three times!) to the student that she post in the financial aid & scholarships forum. I knew there were plenty of smart folks here who could offer some additional ideas for her and they have.
Let’s just hope she’s still reading.
@LucieTheLakie Not pointing to any particular post at all.
Some posters deserve to be “ripped”.
All kidding aside, I agree with @TomSrOfBoston - this thread is a good way to let off steam and then go back and try to be helpful to the people who need help (but are annoying about it).
I am being ungracious, but it is getting tiresome. Did you really “[take] the time to really research” the 25+ schools you applied to? Because if you did I am guessing that you would have been able to narrow down the list just a bit…
Skimmed the recent Boston College and Brandeis results threads. I can’t believe the insensitivity of posters who type things like, “Safety school locked down!” in between the posts from many kids who have been waitlisted or denied and are obviously disappointed. Show a little discretion; your safety is someone else’s match/reach.
