@sorghum:
Depends on what that is referencing. If you are talking about someone who doesn’t have the stats to get into an elite school saying that, I agree, but if you are talking admissions among equally qualified people, it is a crap shoot, there is no science to admissions. In music programs it is even worse, admissions is generally a crapshoot,you don’t even know if playing level alone will guarantee admission, someone can be good enough to get into Curtis institute (one of the top music schools in the world) and won’t get into a lower tier school, someone who is this incredibly polished player doesn’t get a certain teacher, another kid who is not as polished does.
And now…in March…
Threads that ask where a student can get a substantial scholarship…not from their school. Now…in March for a fall college start.
Threads where there’s a life-rocking topic, the OP never processes advice, later says, all’s well, always was, and then leads with the next life-rocking topic. And gets tons of sympathy, every thread, every time.
Someone who puts the exact same question in four different threads hoping to catch UC schools in a conspiracy theory. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-los-angeles/1865312-female-uc-engineering-applicants-accepted-or-not-accepted-to-ucs-info-please.html
Thinly veiled political threads with insulting language.
@palm715 That’s honestly kinda hilarious. The guy sounds like an idiot or some crazy conspiracy theorist.
Ones where the OP doesn’t believe in " international borders" and believes that there should be no state schools only federal ones and that his child should be able to go to any school in this country for the same cost.
Well, if you’re a fan of the Canadian system…
Not a thread, but I had one person PM me by email to ask whether he can lie about being freshmen when he has college credit.
It’s both annoying and a bit angering
@carolinamom2boys #1007
You beat me to it!
By almost 4 hours @GMTplus7 . I’m not as patient as you are.
Ones in which a poster maintains that a private university doesn’t have the right punish vandalism on campus because of “free speech.” :-/
Y’all need to start posting links for some of these crazier threads.
The ones where it is painfully obvious to most everyone that the poster, a one-hit-wonder, created an account to post a “drop and run” provocative thread, usually with a personal agenda.
Quebec and Nova Scotia charge out of province tuition.
So many drop and runs this academic year, jym. Some pretty absurd. I wondered if many were real.
1000+ post gripe sessions with a major passive-aggressive streak.
Oh wait…
^ oh, yeah! Absolutely.
So in that vein, I will add, posts where people comment specifically to get the thread shut down.
Need to go back and quote @thumper1 from way back in December because it’s that or go bang my head against a wall:
Case in point: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-search-selection/1867453-app-state-vs-western-carolina.html
@carolinamom2boys
Hard to believe it possible, but that poster got even more nauseating.
