Any thread in which the student/parent believes the quoted acceptance rate simply doesn’t apply to them.
And any thread where the student/parent thinks the finaid rules don’t apply to them, because they have “unique” circumstances (parents divorced, parents won’t pay for college, etc.).
“But I made an app!”
Agree, but the one kid that recorded “diss raps” on soundcloud for (I think) ALL of the schools that rejected him at least provided entertainment value.
THERE. ARE. NO. WORDS.
Is there a full moon or something???
I have a couple of pet peeves (can’t remember if they were covered earlier):
-
Someone makes a thread simultaneously in several different places with a vague question, and several people answer back, but also ask the OP a few questions to try to get some more info, and they (the OP) never come back. sigh
-
And related to #1, people asking, “which is better, A or B?” without saying anything about what they are like as a student, what their goals are, where they want to live when they graduate, etc. (Of course, when it is posted in A’s forum, people say A, etc.)
? what is it @LucieTheLakie ? I didn’t see anything in the OP?
Sorry, I probably should have summarized, but it just pressed all my buttons.
A premed student with a great offer from an in-state option but is considering paying **$52,000+ a year/b because she wants to get the best “premed” education she can. And then the same “usual suspects” (current students) in a pissing contest over which is higher ranked.
Read post #9 (and God bless that PSU student for trying to talk some sense into the OP!).
Ah gotcha. There seems to be some confusion about the COA though, such that the two schools may cost the same after all.
^^ Highly unlikely, but we shall see!
I’m annoyed by all the lame excuses for why a student applies to only unaffordable schools. First to go to college? So what. Researching college admissions, costs, and financial aid is free to all who can read. I was a first generation college student back in the stone age before the Internet and I figured it all out myself. I worry for these students in college.
Any thread with the rationalization: “but it’s my dream school…”
The one that pained me recently concerned a student denied entry or waitlisted at every school they applied to. It was painly obvious to everyone that they were reaches yet somehow their GC felt it was a good list. To top it off they needed FA and few of them would have provided it even if they had accepted them. The student really didn’t have the stats. If the student was being truthful the adult in this really failed them.
^^ Maybe we need a “honestly saddest threads on CC” thread.
It’s that time of year again. The sob threads from students who applied to no match schools…
I just read one. I had no shard of sympathy.
“Perfect stats, guess where I’m accepted”
Rejection rant threads from students w middling stats but a sense of entitlement that they should have been admitted because they have thousands of hours of community service & heaps of ECs.
Any thread with the 3 words:
dream
but
NYU
And when the NYU dreamer student has no $ (parents can’t pay, dontcha know) and is an int’l student!
