I am 33 years old and will be 34 by the time that I graduate with my Criminology degree. My dream job would be anything in the DOJ federal agencies. The have an appointment age of 37. With no other military experience or job experience what are my chances or what would be the best route to ensure I get a position that I want? Help Please I do not have much time.

It is really going to depend on the position in which you are applying for.

Most positions do not require that you be 37 by the time of your appointment (hire), only typically FLE (Federal Law Enforcement) positions do. These are the positions with the number designated 1811 or 18XX. This is because FLE appointments allow you to retire earlier and offer higher pay incentives which would give you a higher paying pension.

If you’re applying for Admin such-and-such or Reasearch Associate so-and-so, then most likely you will not be constrained by your age. And technically you would still meet the minimum qualification to apply for an appointment that requires <37 y/o if you are 34. So you can apply so long as it is determined you will reamin under 37 by time you complete any subsequent training.
