What are the possibilities? COLLEGES!

I’m going to be a senior at a upper-level medium sized (2000~) high school in San Diego for the next semester. I’m going to be busy applying to a bunch of colleges and I would like the input of the people here as to which schools would seriously consider my application.

I am interested in attending the top private schools and the top public schools (Berkeley and such). In short, I want to get into the most prestigious university i can get into. However, I would rather not apply to a school where i have absolutely no chance.

Any recommendations, suggestions and/or tips are very welcome.

GPA: 4.0 Freshman, 4.3 Sophomore, 4.8 Junior (4.0 Unweighted all years)
SAT I: CR 670 / M 770 / W 740
SAT II: Korean 770 / Math II 760 / Chem 750
ACT: 34

AP’s: World History 4, Took English Language, Psychology, Chemistry and US History Junior year (looking forward to getting at least 2 5’s)

PSAT Commended,
Korean by ethnicity, Australian by nationality (long story)
Low income bracket,

Piano and Violin,
Orchestra Concert Master,
Varsity Badminton Captain,
Very involved in church groups,

Do I stand a chance against the other applicants to the high-end schools?

You have a chance at any school–your academics are solid.

These could potentially be good essay topics.

I agree, you have excellent test scores and GPA, so I can’t imagine any school where you would have absolutely no chance getting into.

I agree. It doesn’t mean that you will get into the schools that you’ll apply to, but you will have gotten your foot in the door. I could go on and on about how you shouldn’t apply to a school based on prestige, but I won’t. Make sure, however, that in your essays about why you want to attend college x, you don’t make prestige the main reason, nor the false belief that attending the college will lead to success in your life.
