I’m only an undergraduate freshman at UCSD, but I’m wondering what would it take to get accepted to Graduate Pharmacy programs in California? What are the minimum standards/requirements? Any suggestions of which college in California that has a great pharmacy program besides UCSD (just in case if I get rejected from there if I applied)?

(this might be better suited for the Med School forum)

most popular pharm schools in CA for UCSD grads would include UCSD (duh), UCSF, UOP, and USC

as for minimum requirements, each school has its own, they’re posted under “admissions” on the respective websites.

Pharmacy programs can USUALLY be bunched into the core premed requirements of biology, inorganic and organic chemistry, and physics (now calculus based).

[Academic Prerequisites](Academic Prerequisites · PharmD Degree Program · UCSF)

Others that vary from school to school include public speaking, economics, calculus, physiology, english, and psychology. EVERY school varies dramatically. USC has tons and tons of prerequisites that were a pain in the butt to complete, and I never ended up fulfilling them as they had microbiology, molecular biology, and biochemistry as extraneous science requirements.

A lot of Californians end up applying out of state (like I did) or to some of the private, somewhat (stress on the somewhat) easier to get into pharmacy schools such as loma linda, western, touro, and now the new Northgate. Most people who apply have their bachelors. Some don’t, but they are very few and far between when they are granted acceptances.
