I was curious what the students, in general, were like at Georgia. For instance, are they snobby, accepting, conservative, liberal, etc. Although, I do know there are 30,000+ students.

Thanks!

That’s a really hard question. I know of people who fit into all the groups you mentioned. Like all schools, there is an underlying stereotype of UGA kids… white, middle/upper-middle class, northern suburbs of ATL, preppy, etc, etc. Some may not see it, but I do. But with that being said, you have opportunities to meet and make the friends you want to make. If you want the preppy/frattie/sorostitute scene, it’s yours. If you want the mellow, college liberal scene, it’s yours too.

I completely understand that stereotype. Pretty much every school in the SEC is seen as upper middle class, white and redneck. While some schools continue their “tradition,” other schools are trying to break said “tradition.” The University of Tennessee - Knoxville has really cleaned up their image in my opinion.

Thanks for your response!

I agree with MC. You will find all types of people here at UGA, including people like you. There are so many organizations that you’ll most likely find the right one(s) for you. Also, the dorm life, especially if you live in Creswell or Russell, is a great way to get to know others of different cultures and understand their background. College is a great place to meet new people that are most likely going to be different than you, but you will find people similar to you as well.
