What Are the Top Universities in the USA That Offer Scholarships for International Students?

Hi everyone,
I’m an international student looking to study in the U.S., and I’m interested in learning about universities in the USA that offer scholarships. What are some of the best options for international students, and what kind of scholarships do they provide? Any insights on application tips or personal experiences would also be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your help!

It’s not too difficult to get some kind of scholarship offered - but a full scholarship for Internationals is not very common, unless you have a special hook.
My intentional student daughter got offered something most places she applied too with solid but not top of the class academics - but didn’t apply for T20. She chose the University of Vermont with a $25k p.a. scholarship. It wasn’t the highest she was offered, but was one of the best. She’s there now and loving it.

What is your budget? Do you have an affordable safety school in your home country?

Most colleges in this country are need aware for international students…which means your level of financial need can be considered when your application for admission is reviewed.

Many colleges don’t guarantee to meet full need for all accepted students.

Some colleges don’t give financial aid of any type to international students.

Without knowing your GPA, SAT or ACT score, and where you are considering applying to college…and the amount of aid you will need…it’s hard to tell you whether your college options will meet your financial needs.

There are need-based scholarships/aid and merit scholarships. Are you in need of both?

What is your college budget/year?

Both need blind and will meet full need for all accepted International students:
Amherst College, Bowdoin College, Brown University (2025),Dartmouth, Harvard, MIT, Princeton and Yale

Private LAC’s generous to International students:
Hamilton, Haverford. Williams. Franklin and Marshall. Smith, Colgate and Carleton

Some Public University’s offering FA to Internationals:
University of Alabama, Arizona State, University of Arizona, Iowa State, University of Maine, University of Wyoming, Ole Miss.

  • Ohio State, I know of someone who got generous aid as an international. He was studying engineering.

To OP: your question is very broad. Without an idea of what your academic/holistic achievements are and what field you want to study in, it’s hard to give a targeted answer. The most generous for need blind/meets need are also the hardest to get accepted into.
