What are they looking for?

What do they want in an application?

What are big factors?

Personal Statement?

Course Criteria and Patterns?

Also, does it look good on my transcripts if I took courses for my major (Lower-Division) that aren’t required (Assist.Org)

For Example, UCSB wants only one Shakespeare class for major classes (English Major) And I took multiple English Courses that are supplementary for my major like American Lit. and World Lit.

Does that look good or bad on my profile?

Only UCB, LA, UCI and I think Merced reads PS…

The main things are general ed completion, major preparation, and GPA (also what type of transfer student you are, for example ccc, out of state, UC-UC, or international). Then secondarily, depending on the campus, comes personal statement, ECs, and other aspects that can play varying roles.
