I’ll start -
My DIL wants a Dyson Air Wrap.
My husband wants a Nespresso Vertuo with Aeroccino (milk frother thing).
The only item I know I’m look for is and Aura Frame for my parents.
My husband wants to upgrade our TV from large to freaking big @ss monstrosity size.
We’ll see about that.
What makes the Aura Frame different or better than other similar products? I’m thinking of getting something like this for my mom. Mom likes to look at pictures, but it always looking at them on her phone, so this seems like a good upgrade.
I hope Alaska Air has a decent sale.
I approve their messages. Those 2 are awesome things we bought for ourselves but the kids quickly expropriated them.
Our D and SIL got one for H and I for Christmas and we really like it. Everything is loaded through an app. You can give others a link and they add the app and can also load photos. When H’s S and BIL were visiting us last spring they loved coming downstairs each morning and seeing the pictures. We bought one for them when we went to Bermuda in September for a visit and my BIL has loved adding pictures. They have a S that lives in the UK so he can add pictures for them too.
I think my parents will really enjoy it although I don’t see them using the app to add pictures. We will give a link to all of the rest of the family so that they can add pictures for my parents to enjoy.
I have a frame from a different brand (can’t remember which at the moment) that uses a USB stick to load photos, and it’s kind of meh.
I was given an Aura frame 2-3 years ago and it’s fantastic. Terrific resolution and easy to use. As others have noted you can just add photos through the app (as well as reposition and crop them there), and you can give other family members the app code as well for the frame so they can add photos to it easily, too.
If this is for you Mom I’m sure she’ll love it; seeing photos at a larger size than on her phone will be terrific. I have my frame set to shuffle, and it’s a different picture every minute (I think there’s 3000 or so photos on it).
Another aspect your Mom might enjoy too, is that you and your family members can send photos straight to her frame, no matter where they are in the world. When I’m on a trip I’ll send some to my frame at the end of the day, too.
Thank you @blueberriesforsal and @showmom858! That sounds pretty perfect! My sister actually takes the most pictures (her kids are younger and have more picture taking opportunities). I like that either of us could send pictures from anywhere and that she wouldn’t need to fuss with it.
Alaska JUST had a recent sale for 3 days. Not sure if still in effect. We purchased our tickets at approx. 25% less than the usual fare. (If there’s a better sale, we can bank the difference). Last year, the best sale we found was the Monday after Thanksgiving (for late-winter / early spring flights). Of course there is no logic to future pricing.
With Alaska and Hawaiian merging there has been some unusual pricing lately, e.g. on Hawaiian’s website a flight that was noted as an Alaskan flight was $200 less than the same flight on Alaska’s website.
I called Alaska to ask if I’d missed something, and the rep double checked and said it was all correct and to go ahead and book on Hawaiian; I did ask how I could select my seats (as you can’t select seats on a partner airline), and she told me that once I had the confirmation code I could get on my Alaska app and pick them. So I did!
So I bought two rather cheap one way tickets to/from Kauai at the peak Presidents Day week in February doing this a few weeks ago. (The one way tickets were less than the same tickets booked as a round trip, too.) It’s typically quite an expensive week to get tickets and it was half the price I’ve paid in recent years.
Son wants some Shokz Open Run pro 2 headphones. I only see deals on older models.
It’s funny, this year I finally gave up shopping and we are going on a trip instead of doing “big” Christmas presents. NOW everyone seems to have good gift ideas. Usually it’s really hard, especially for my son.
For my son, an adult Lego set. I sent grandson a “first” train set, for two year olds. As soon as son saw that, his wish list changed.
BF wants a grill.
I’d like more Versed lotion for us if it’s a great deal.
For the nespresso - don’t get the Vertuo Next, they have very poor reliability.
Thanks - that’s what I’ve read. I want the “plain ole vertuo” with the milk frother.
We bought this one on a great sale. It seems very similar to Aura. Same story. My mom and all of her visitors love it. App is very easy and the kids send her pictures all the time.https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09WJWYSWZ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&th=1
I have a Frameo and I really like it. It’s an easy interface on the actual frame, and I have found it’s easy to upload pictures (and give people links to upload). Spring for the biggest one you can, no matter what brand you get.
I’m looking for an ultra light backpack/day pack for things like walking around theme parks. We have an old Kelty but it has seen better days. I’m looking at the Osprey Daylite Plus but would be open to suggestions.
I have that exact pack, and was going to suggest it. I don’t know that I’d say it’s ultra light though, and it has laptop protection and you can put a water reservoir in it, which you may not need. I really like the “plus” better than the regular Daylite bag though. I like that it has 2 water bottle holders on the outside, and that you can just shove stuff in the open front pouch thing.
ETA - it’s on sale for 25% off at REI right now.
