What are/were your AMC Scores?

So, for those applying, or better yet, those who did apply, what were your AMC scores, and did you get accepted with that score? Did anyone make it without qualifying for the AIME?

Uh… I’m applying early action for the class of 2012, and my scores were 100.5AMC and 1 AIME. I know… unimpressive, but oh well. >.<

136.5/8 '12

My highs were in junior year, 125.5/3. I’m '11.

Scores will be slightly deflated due to the scoring change, I believe. I’m not sure though.

129/9, Maybe I’ll apply

2004 - 10A (Score = 107.5) 10B (Score = 120.5)
2005 - AIME didn’t take because the teacher was too lazy to check if I actually made it…
2005 - 10A (Score = 128.5) 10B (Score = 109.5)
2005 AIME Score = 4
2006 - 10A (Score = 127.5) 12B (Score = 107.5)
2006 AIME Score = 4
2007 - 12A (Score = 94.5) 12B (Score = 117.0)
2007 AIME Score = 3

see the decreasing trend from freshmen year?

grr… i hope they like the fact that i made AIME since 8th grade (maybe only like 30 ish girls in the country made it since 8th grade my graduating year with 100 total ish)
I know my AIME score is not really good at all, cuz I always make stupid mistakes. i was really sure i got 4 this year… but guess not. one of my friend that got 12 last year only got 2 this year… because scantron problems =( dono what happened to mine…oh well… cuz 3 4’s in a row would be cool
I am going more for the hands on stuff in my app though. AIME is just the icing XP

'12 early

KnightMair got in right?

2 guys from my school that got in this year
one didn’t take it- ISEF 2nd place…
one had 4X usamo + mop
2 girls last year
one had 1XUSAMO
one had pretty decent AMC + AIME
1 girl year before that was more science
and the year before that 1 guy
usamo couple times + mop

all the usamo people had highest at about 140s and double digit AIME scores
i hope this helps

yeah dong_xie really SHOULD apply!!

rainy, Lynbrook peeps are just way too good. It’s like Harvard:TJ::Stanford:Lynbrook

I’m applying this year and luck pulled an 11 for me on AIME.
Now if only luck came with me to the poker table…

yeah, lynbrook is also hella good at debate. you guys are pretty impressive.

o.O Lynbrook good at debate? I know Lynbrook’s dance team is pretty good , oh yeah and badminton team! XP
no matter how good we are at math or debate or wtv. we still fail to get people into good schools. I mean 0 to Harvard this year. That’s not very impressive. Many people get caught in the numbers and forget the various other stuff, which makes them great for UCs but not for the most selective universities. I think Monta Vista and Harker gets a LOT more people into top universities. And Lynbrook is pretty sucky in terms of school/course choices/teachers, the only reason it looks good are the thousands of parents that are willing to spend $1 mil+ on a old, outdated house so their kid can go to a “good” hs and put them through gazillion random classes that cost a fortune.
jenkster:congratz on the 11!!! that’s REALLY really good since the AIME this year IMO was harder than previous years. how did you do on the USAMO? our mopper kid accidentally wrote “oh ****!” (aww it got censored) on one of his solution sheet, good thing it was a scratch one. Lol poker table!! i got quad 2’s once!! played for a cookie in summer school!!! I got super lucky that day (lots of triples and many of them were like Ace’s) so the guys I was playing against were about to faint.

To the OP: There are definitely people that got in who never even heard of AMC or AIME. Many people do get in without ever making AIME. You are just suppose to do the best you can in your circumstances. If your school doesn’t offer it, don’t worry about it. If you can’t make AIME, some people said it won’t matter much if you didn’t get 8+, so no biggie if that makes you feel better. It’s only a very tiny portion of the app.

to iostream : i thought “hella” was a west coast thing, cuz my friend from Ohio and cousin from Boston says they use “mad” instead XP

haha, it was meant to be a joke playing on the fact that lynbrook is norcal. besides, i won’t lie: the west side is the best side, so i’m more than happy to adopt a mannerism or two. also, i went to debate camp at stanford one year. since then, it’s been hellas all the way. good or bad? you decide.

Here’s a number so low the MIT page here has never seen such a terrible score…78 AND school high scorer on AMC 12. Now should I even bother applying with that…The highest score my school ever had on AMC my brother this year on the AMC 10, with a 111 and he’s as they say “the best math student ever to go to the school”.

109/3

ye i’m a noob

I think you should apply if you really want to go. Soo many people haven’t even TAKEN AMC. Definitely do NOT let that be the reason for you not to apply!
and think of it this way, as long as you apply, there is a chance. If you don’t apply, you might regret it later on.

Thanks rainy! I bombed this year’s USAMO. The 4 kinda shocked me because I really did well the last year (almost made blue mop! :frowning: ). I guess it’s because I didn’t prepare seriously (had too many other stuff going on) so even though I thought I solved 1 and 4, I probably left a lot of holes in the proofs. So, I’m quite anxious about redeeming myself this year. lol I even signed up for WOOT at AOPS.

about the poker thing: don’t you just love spurts of good luck? The bad thing is that I never quit when I’m ahead. I lose everything in the end haha.

4 is really good, i mean… hey! i never even made to USAMO T_T

I know I’ve been very privileged to be able to take the USAMO, so I’m definitely not crying myself to sleep about the 4 haha.

111.5/4

very average compared to the 130s/140s that some people in my school get

oh well, never been much of a contest math kid

still going to mit ('11) though =D

oh nice!!! congratz tachobg! did you pack yet? orientation starts soon

haha, the olympiads are just contests. chillax, y’all.
