“I want to go to Harvard.” Who on CC cannot agree with that? Anyway, what did you do or what do you plan on doing to get in. BTW, please be honest. No laundry lists of things that you did since Kindergarten.</p>
<p>I got a 2400. I felt like that was a good start.</p>
<p>They sent me an application and my goal is Cornell next year. My dad was all for it so I decided it was worth a shot.</p>

<p>Unique concentrations in my field of interest: Chemical and Physical Biology (integrates chemical, physical, and quantitative methods into the study of the biological sciences) and Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology (perhaps the future of medicine).</p>

<p>D actually did not want to apply to Harvard. Up to that point of applying, she did not like the school. She applied because we suggested that she add another “reach” and she grudgingly added Harvard because the application was really easy. She is very glad that she did because she could not be happier as a freshman there,</p>
<p>The point of my post is that an applicant does not have to prepare for years in order to be accepted. </p>
<p>I do think that Pig’s advice of keeping the three SATs in mind during your high school years to be really good. Similarly I advise that while doing this keep in mind the unique SAT II requirements of many schools with MIT and Tufts as examples. I know of students who found that they had to limit the schools to which they apply to schools for this exact reason.</p>
<p>Harvard was on a list of east coast schools that my D visited last spring and she also sat in on some classes. The entire experience was very positive- the tour guide was very nice, the info session was very well done, the classes were uniformly good. Contrary to public mythology, it seemed like a pretty good place for undergrads. So she decided to apply.</p>

<p>I have lots of dedication for a fairly unique extra curricular, and good GPA, ACT, etc. I figured you only have one chance in your life to pick an undergraduate school, why let the opportunity to go to the most world reknowned school pass?</p>
