What are you doing today?

I am doing nothing much outside today–too hot and humid. Maybe laundry in the machines in my apartment building.

Walked the trail. Got Jersey Mike’s for lunch because I like it but H doesn’t.

H didn’t sleep much last night with stomach pains. He had to go to his mother’s today and he had a medical appointment since he was over there. Called me, said that he was convinced that the pains were kidney stones which he has been experiencing. Got to his mom’s, threw up and is fine. So maybe he ate something that didn’t agree with him. I’m glad he didn’t have to go to the ED in his mom’s town.

I have to golf tonight as a sub in a league. Not looking forward to it because I’m having elbow pain but I committed. Hope I don’t stink it up more than I usually do!

Big day here.

Pup walk, went to the gym, welcomed the HVAC tech who performed routine maintenance but also fixed a number of little annoyances, like the very loud rattle when the heat pump started up. Thankfully no major issues. Another walk with Sabapup, who upon our return decided to urp under the dining room table, just a few feet from the front door. Carpet cleaning followed. Quick trip to the store as I was out of eggs, now trying to decide if I’m making dinner or if we’re going out.

I was really excited about the gym today. I haven’t been able to run for a very long time and I really want to. Running gave structure to my days (well, work did too but I don’t miss that). I’ve been doing walk/run on the treadmill (hey, anything is better than nothing) but today I was able to do a 5k without any hip issues. And I was running. It was great.

I hope everyone’s various medical issues are resolved. Having a chronic condition isn’t any fun.

Okay, carry on.

Went to a great little pub in Sturbridge and had lunch with a former regular CC poster. We had a great time catching up. We haven’t seen each other in well over five years! This was the halfway point from her place to mine. We are planning to do this again!

Big driving day today on the way to the mountains of NH to spend a week at an Airbnb with younger S and FDIL2s family. But first I did yet another icky run in the heat and humidity. Blech.

Then we stopped at Hershey Chocolate World! My grandparents lived nearby when I was growing up and going there (not the amusement park) was the highlight of our trips. It opened not long after I was born. It’s just a little more commercialized now. It’s still fun - and free - minus the gift shop

I was up until 2 a.m. as I was on the phone with ds2 for more than two hours, until after 1. We haven’t done that in a long time. But I woke up at the regular time so am exhausted right now.

Worked out with my online group for the first time in a while. Ds2 called back today while I I was lifting to clarify some of what was said in the fog of sleepiness. He was on his way back to an antique store an hour away to buy his gf a chair she saw there that she loved (it’s her bday next month). She’s gonna be so surprised.

Showered and helped a guy load a bookcase we were giving away through Buy Nothing, and then met a friend for lunch who I hadn’t seen in a long time. She is in the middle of it with her aging parents. Then I took some stuff to Goodwill and got home after picking up a bunch of moving boxes so we can box up stull in preparation for whatever work we get done.

In not gonna lie, my will to get all this reno work done is fading. Just boxing up all this stuff is such a pain.

I had my radio interview and podcast this morning, promoting our event — free health conference to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Also bought takeout for lunch. Just got off phone with chair of national nonprofit board I serve on — asking for more clarity on the patient voice and role the org wants. He promised we will have a meeting, me, the other patient board member, the person who heads our patient engagement committee and the president/CEO of our org.

Went to see/brought flowers to a friend in the hospital who is in renal failure. Yesterday I took food to, and visited with a friend who has liver cancer. This stinks.

Yesterday I did have a lovely lunch with neighbors and then, with the help of the kind supervisor of the open studio time, glazed my very first piece of wheel pottery.

It’s been nice to be back to the Y this week. 3 miles on the treadmill and a few weight machines. The best part of my visit was getting my membership changed to Silver & Fit, saving me $$ every month.

We had a meeting with our financial advisor this afternoon to go over where we’re at. Everything looks great and we’re not going to run out of money anytime soon. :tada: She’s going to set up a meeting with one of their attorneys to review our existing will and trust and see if that’s all okay from a financial perspective.

#2D is over. She and her BF signed the papers for their new home today. So excited for them! It’s a great house in a great little city by us, walking distance to the downtown and all it’s amenities - bars, restaurants, and shopping.

I confess that I was in my gym clothes prepared to go to the gym when I heard about my friend in the hospital, so changed out of gym clothes to go get flowers and visit her. I did not change back into gym clothes when I got home

Volunteer gig first. Then dropping off one of my watercolors for our artisans guild show (it is a members show and everyone who is a guild member was guaranteed one painting in the show…so, they had no choice but to choose one).

Then maybe a little time at my lake. Then ballroom dance party tonight.

The plan was to walk this morning, then do a few chores. The carpet cleaner was supposed to show between 1 and 4.

But… I’ve postponed the walk and the cleaning was moved up to late morning. In the meantime I have gotten a few chores done -load of laundry, watering houseplants, vacuuming, etc.

Hopefully it clears so I can walk later.

We’re headed out to our cottage. D & GD are coming … GD is so excited. They have been too busy to get out there yet this summer.

Working this morning then heading to lunch with former coworkers of mine. I always enjoy catching up with these ladies every few months. Tomorrow is a cruise in our friends beautiful restored wooden boat for the afternoon. Sunday will be doing some catch up at home since we were away in Bermuda for 11 days.

Just found out that there is a new watercolor class that is forming this Fall two block from my house on a day of the week that totally works for me. Thank you to @thumper1 for the inspiration to sign up!

I had a nice walk along the lake front, will do my puzzles, get in my weight/core workout, will have lunch with my H and then will continue a mosaic tiling project on a terra cotta pot. I need to harvest some veggies for tonight’s dinner and then H and I will go on another walk. We also need to get the kayak rack on the car since we hope to get out for a bit tomorrow.

Went grocery shopping for ingredients for three cold pull-out salads to act as easy sides for upcoming meals. Friday is martini night, and DH will be grilling steak instead of our usual pizzas.

I forgot to post yesterday that I laundered all the sofa slipcovers and trimmed back the felt pad under our living room rug an inch on each side so I’m no longer tugging at the rug to cover the peep. This means that I will enjoy tonight’s martini even more without the niggle of those chores I haven’t had the energy/inclination to tackle for the past three years.

Cheers!

Exercised me and pup first thing in the morning. Went to a local French bakery to buy-try some of their baguettes and to talk to the owner who I’ve chatted with before about some ideas for the French themed baby event I’m hosting in September. Bought a raspberry white chocolate scone for tomorrow. Stopped at a new ACE Hardware store we have - wow, never knew they had so much fun stuff in there! Expensive to a degree but would actually be a good place to stop for a gift for someone - lots of kitchen goods.

Stopped at one yard sale to burn some time and bought a cute MCM look round ottoman for $4. I’ll spend some time cleaning it up later today. Then had an appt with a bath designer to see some renderings after their visit to our house. It made me excited but also there is no $$$ tied to it yet so don’t want to get my hopes up. Finally though happy to meet with someone who could provide me visuals of what we might do.

Stopped afterwards at a local deli to try a couple of their salads for the above baby event. They were fine but honestly I think Costco chicken salad is better!

Will spend the afternoon on some house tasks, that ottoman and then the sun should come out later and I’ll putter in the yard and take a swim.

I actually love weekends that I can fill myself with things to do!

This thread sometimes reminds me of a radio segment I used to listen to back in Chicagoland. Every December, the Kathy & Judy show would do Merry Medical Christmas, where they would read holiday newsletters that were completely about major health situations.

I myself went for a foot MRI to see what is not healing yet on the side of my foot that was caused by the sprain. At least I already got a boot, although I’ve been walking on it (cautiously) for six weeks. No break showed on the X-Ray.

I also decided to hold off on applying the “long term continuous heart monitor” my doctor prescribed to see if there is anything happening with my periodic racing heart. It says not to expose to sunlight or immerse in water. The pool is currently my main source of exercise, like where I was yesterday.

Otherwise just waiting around for the exterminator to treat yet another location with a tiny ants outbreak. I have learned that both Glass Plus and Fantastik make excellent immediate ant killer.
