My husband went back to work for a couple days. He’s a bit of an organized packrat, so I’m taking the opportunity to clean out my kitchen cabinets and throw away anything I don’t want, and organize them. I also just threw out a brand new bag of semi sweet Chocolate chips. I fell off the bandwagon this month, and need to go back to no sugar.
I’m taking down all Christmas decorations except the tree. I’ll wait until January 1 for that. It’s all the other stuff that takes time to park up and organize. I’m going thru the storage room and ditching stuff he’d want to keep but has no idea he’s even kept it. Like a 2009 State Farm humongous road map, plus other stuff like that. It feels good to purge.
I’m at work. Yippee… Honestly, I like working the days when many people are off. Nice and quiet. H is at the dermatologist getting a basal cell squamous place cut off his face. I’ll be glad when that’s done. Also have to call the lady doctor to see if they can fit me in soon too. Joy. Of course, my office is not completely empty, and I work in an open office with all men. I have to go to my car (5 min walk in the windy rain) to make such calls… and hope the doctor’s office answers. That’s never a given around here.
My Xmas decorations have been up since November 10th! I’ll take some of them down on Jan. 1, but younger S/FDIL2 are coming down on the 10th, so I’ll keep up the tree and stocking area until then. Maybe the dining room table stuff too. We were out of town for ~3 weeks this season, hence why I wanted it up early. I do love when it’s up.
I spent yesterday cleaning and organizing and throwing “stuff” out. My home feels very calm and peaceful this morning which I needed after a wonderful, but chaotic, Christmas. I’m hitting the Peloton this morning, grocery shopping for healthy foods, and will do some more de-cluttering. I love the fresh start that a new year brings.
At the very quiet office. Had used all my vacation days so working this week, mostly WFH but came in today since DS is still with us. DH is probably having to go to Urgent Care but DS will take him. Hoping he does not end up back in the hospital to start the new year!
I hosted my first NYE party 4 years ago. I was stressed all week. I really went all out with decorating and food even though everyone still brought one thing. We spent $1200 and were in bed at 4:00 am. Everyone had a great time but I don’t think I’ll ever do that again. My son came home at 3:00 and couldn’t believe we were still up
D left on Saturday but reported this morning that she has Covid, yet again. H and I have never had it, but it will be a miracle if we escape it this time. Today will be cleaning out the refrigerator and getting rid of all the holiday food that’s still hanging around, followed by the cabinets. I usually leave my trees up until New Years Day. Tomorrow we go over to the cancer center, so I’m really trying to get ahead today.
Taking down the small Christmas decorations I had up.
Probably walking on the treadmill
Husband has a virtual medical appointment that we will probably have to pay for out of pocket. Still better than driving 100 miles each way. Especially because the weather is awful
Still doing laundry from a week of company!
Taking DH to his MRI at oncology
Waiting to hear from S2 about the first midwife appointment
Waiting to hear from S1 if they are trying to make a run for home through the blizzard or staying put
Calling my mom for a time/date/orientation check
Sorting lids and containers!
I’m working this week, but only for 3 days and I will only have to go into the office tomorrow to run checks and make deposits. It will be very quiet at work this week which will be nice before we get into year end mode.
I am going to take the tree down on New Year’s Day since we head out to ski at Mammoth next week. In just over 2 weeks I will be flying to CT with D1, GD and their cat as they make the big move east.
I am “working” today. I was going to go into the office partially, but when I looked out the window I got discourage. I will probably get dinged for being out of the office so much this month…
I cleaned my place over the weekend and did a lot of decluttering. Threw out some pots and pans I haven’t used, put away some picture frames because I got an Aura digital frame.
I am done with the holidays and waiting for Spring to get here early.
We have hosted NYE most years in our last house and this one. It’s not an inexpensive endeavor but I really love it! Most years everyone is gone by 1 am. This year is a little harder because we were traveling for xmas but I planned ahead so I’m pretty organized. Tomorrow and Wednesday will be a cooking marathon though for sure.
We had to get our old router replaced. I spent an hour and a half this morning trying to get the computer to recognize the printer on the wireless network. Such a pain. Now I’m watching an episode of The Sopranos, ha, because my brain is tired.
Taking the kids to the airport, one trip this morning and one this afternoon. Will start laundry and exercise and throw out all the sweets. Tonight at 8:10 (why?) I have a breast MRI.
I feel you. I spent an hour trying to get a parking app to send the parking pass I need to my phone’s wallet. I miss when I just handed money to a person…
