What are you doing today?

Something I ate last night did not agree with me so I was up many times last night. I woke up with a slight headache which I’m not sure is from that or b/c we slept with our windows open and there is a lot of pollen in the air today (very windy!). My digestive system is still on edge.

That being said, my plans to get a lot of things done this morning did not come to fruition and I’m having a lazy morning. We are supposed to get rain today but so far just very windy and dark. I wish I felt better as I really need to get a few things done in the yard before our trip.

I still need to make some last minute arrangements for our trip (we leave Saturday for Rome/Puglia) which I will do today. I’m going to lay out the clothes I plan to take using the Sudoku method and will try things on together to make sure I like the various options. We are both doing carry on only.

Rest of day will be other odds/ends related to traveling - make sure I have enough books on my kindle, clean house, etc. Oh, that reminds me, I need to gather donations for a Purple Heart pickup on Thursday so I’ll be going thru my closet today also.

What is the Sudoku packing method??

I copied this from AI but if you google it, you will find videos and photos that explain it.

“The Sudoku packing method is a capsule wardrobe travel hack using a 3x3 grid to create up to 27 outfit combinations from only 9 core items (3 tops, 3 bottoms, 3 layers). By arranging items in a grid—such as top/bottom/layer—and ensuring all pieces are cohesive, you can mix and match to create numerous looks, avoiding overpacking and making it ideal for carry-on luggage.”

While I don’t need that many outfits since I’m only gone for ten days, I’m just using it as a guide. I’m packing neutral colors mostly with at least two pieces (layer and top) with some color. I’ve never tried it before as it’s been a while since I’ve traveled overseas and also not had access to laundry. Fortunately temps will be moderate so I don’t need any heavy clothes. For shoes, one pair of sneakers that are also fashionable enough I can wear with most outfits, one sandal and one pair of flats.

Nice walk in the park with my neighbor, now sauteing salmon for lunch and then heading to Atlanta Symphony Orchestra’s concert in the park. High today of 68 - should be a lovely afternoon/evening!

Still in Seattle with S2. We’re heading to Costco and Ikea shortly.

I had not heard of Sudoku packing method but am intrigues and may try it! Thanks for the tip. I have 2 kids birthday gifts to deliver—one to grand niece and one to family friend. Grand niece’s birthdays was near Easter, when we were in SF but never gave it to her yet ($ and a book). Friend’s kid is having party at noon and I like chatting with the extended family—have known them for decades.

After we get home, will give some thought to capsule sudoku wardrobe.

You certainly chose the right days to be here!

We might have snow showers this week. Who needs that after the middle of April??

I need to bring my poor pansies in tonight. Luckily they are potted, and not planted in the ground.

I decided to redo a watercolor I tried. I tossed the first attempt in the trash. Here is the second. Hoping you can all guess the plants!

Yay! That’s the yellow one! In my first attempt, it looked like a big yellow blob. Even I couldn’t figure it out!

Since it was forsythia time of year I thought it was a possibility. Nice job.

It’s cold here in Michigan. I think it’s stopped raining for a few days. Everything is flooding. Places I’ve never seen water before are covered and flooded.

The sewer pump station failed so they are asking to conserve sewer use. We are in the country and have a septic tank so we aren’t affected.

Today I walked the trail. It’s been good to get out. I was in a coat, hat and gloves but I was fine. Talked to my daughter. Her sil had a baby this week so they got to meet him yesterday.

Tried to figure out when our family can meet for Christmas. Which seems way too early but too many schedules to coordinate. Looked at Airbnbs, tried to get the kids to consider one in the Caribbean but they didn’t want to take another day of vacation. So Pennsylvania it is! In December. At least we will be together.

Making steak on the grill for dinner. I bought tenderloins from Costco and they are as good as any restaurant.

Unfortunately, I did not bring the right clothes!!

It snowed on and off here today. It didn’t stick to the ground, but it was snow. It’s been seesawing between quite warm (65-70) and way too cold (we had to wear our warmest coats when we walked today). I’m ready for spring to actually stay!

Thank you for the advice! DH plays classical and flamenco guitar. I will suggest that we encourage each other to play for a few minutes tonight.

That’s all very helpful. I think it’s a great idea to pick a duet my daughter and I can do. She knows she needs to concentrate on classical more (her love is jazz). I will message her right now!
