<p>Paid internship at a boutique investment bank in eastern Europe.</p>
<p>yeah…3 things on my agenda:</p>
<p>1) 4 days after school gets out ~ 40 hr/week, 60 week internship at JPL (the NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory duh.)
2) During this time finish AP summer assignments, and prepare everything for college apps. so that i can be free from torture during the fall…
3) Go to India for 2 weeks :)</p>

2) tutoring kids 200~300 hours
3) sat prep classes (mon - thurs 5 hours a day till school starts)
4) taking some classes at ucla (two weeks)
5) go out only on saturdays. :(</p>

My mom’s employing me for $40 a week to do housework/clean the garage.

<p>“wow how do you guys get all these internship? Do you guys just ask?”</p>
<p>Networking. I hate it but it’s often necessary in order to land the best internships. I sent out about 20 online applications and nobody even replies. Then the economics department at my uni hosts a cocktail party and I end up chatting with a guy over some free drinks, and find out he had worked at this firm in eastern europe last summer – in the same country where I did my study abroad. So I ask him about what he did there, listen, and then tell him why I’d be great for that position, and also my reasons for wanting to get experience in that region. He offers to give his former boss a call to recommend me.<br>
–> CV and cover letter sent directly to fund manager
–> telephone interview
–> 2 written assignments
–> offered the position.<br>
All within 10 days.</p>
<p>I will not fill in an online application ever again, even when looking for fulltime jobs. </p>
<p>Also note that investment banking internships are pretty tough to get without a couple of years of university study completed. So try to get one during one of your university summers. This year’s internship for me will be between finishing undergrad and starting a masters program.</p>

<p>Its off to Pittsburgh for me. I’ll be a CMU SAMS. If I have any free time I’ll be doing some planning and pre-organizational stuff for my robotics team. And of course the usual SAT, ACT, AP prep and college research.</p>

<p>Well, I applied for this free summer Film program at the Museum of Modern Art, but I’m waitlisted, which really stinks cos I applied for the program a month before the deadline! gahh! I expected to get into that so I didn’t apply for any other summer programs, and now it’s too late so sign up for anything else really =(</p>
<p>But other than that, I’ll be going to JAPAN!! for two weeks =) And then I’ll be spending time volunteering at the local library and at Central Park Summerstage. I will also be reading…a lot!</p>
<p>Oh and maybe I’ll get a job sometime too.</p>
<p>I’m going to do nothing all summer. I’lljust sit in front of the TV, or go out with friends…lol. I don’t have much planned yet.
But I want to get a job but my parents won’t let me.</p>
