<p>Hubby & I were just talking about what we were going to do once our D leaves for college (another year away)…we’re finally going to renovate our bedroom, which is the last room in the house not repainted again since we bought the house (19 years ago)…and buy a cordless phone for our home office (since our D can not learn how to put a cordless phone back in the handset …and they slowly die…)!</p>
<p>What are you going to do with all of your free time (with little extra money…)?</p>
<p>Free time? Extra money? We’re going to keep on working to pay those tuition bills! As for having more space, forget about it. S comes back every time there’s a holiday. And the school closes down several times during the academic year.</p>
<p>My last left home for school last year and to my husband’s dismay, what he found out is that I don’t cook anymore. It just seems to be a waste to cook for two. I know, I know, it was fun and seemed right when you were first married, but now it’s just weird–plus I can’t seem to cut recipes down to where I’m not stuck with leftovers for days.</p>
<p>I didn’t do any of the things I thought I would do last year—you know things like clean out attic, organize files, etc. Maybe this year :).</p>
<p>I do know there is no extra money with 2 in school for the next few years. So not even a vacation this summer.</p>
<p>I’m with marite. All the “free time” goes to earn all the extra money needed for college. </p>
<p>Son says he may not come home next summer, and being an RA this year, he will have shorter breaks than before, so his room will not be needed much. Hmmm… My husband could use an art room. Or I could set up that laptop I hope to buy myself when the price comes down a bit more… and have a quiet place to work online where DH won’t be interrupting me so much… Hmmm…</p>
<p>As for cooking, DH likes to take leftovers to work for his dinner (swing shift worker), so I will keep on cooking. However, when S is gone, I can make more vegetarian meals and other things he doesn’t like. That is one positive thing, at least. And we won’t spend a fortune on good lunch meat and cheeses, like when S is home.</p>
