For this prompt, can I talk about the diversity that I am looking forward to in college since I’ve been going to a high school that that is pre-dominantly African American (~75% of student body when school announced ethnicity breakdown) for four years? I feel like adcoms might take it the wrong way…
If it doesn’t seem like a good topic to write about, then I suppose I can talk about the pursuing environmental research and study abroad.
I think you can say that you’re looking forward to the diversity the college has to offer, without referring to your high school’s lack of diversity, which may be taken the wrong way. You could refer to the many facets of the school’s diversity - racial, gender, ethnic, geographic, international population, diversity of thought (i.e., different majors), etc. I’d emphasize what you hope to get out of and contribute to that diversity.
