Haha oldfort. I have attended two at Cornell. One for D’s undergrad and one for her boyfriend for his PhD. The graduation reminds me of the Olympics. They come marching into the circle bearing their particular memorabilia or colors. It was quite imperessive.
@morrismm and @oldfort – and nearly 30 years ago, we walked in drinking out of champagne bottles! The morning was a long blur and VERY hot and humid. My parents were overwhelmed by the walking.
I will have to tap the two of you for grad advice in two years…or perhaps in one year when I need to scramble for hotel reservations for May 2018.
Regarding the comment “it shows up in the pictures” - for my D’s graduation 3 years ago, I wore a very cute skirt that had a very busy pattern, so my blouse was very plain/white. In all the photos I have of the day, I only show from the waist up. My cute skirt didn’t make it into the photos.
D’s graduation was outdoors in the Boston area at the end of May. It ended up being in the 90s and we were all sweltering. D’s bf graduated exactly a week later (also outdoors in the Boston area) and it was in the low 50s and pouring rain.
S’s graduation is at the end of May in Maine, also outdoors. I am watching the forecast.
I just learned the graduation I’m going to next Saturday will be indoors. Thank goodness.

Good lord that’s terrible! I’d be looking for a plug and bringing an electric blanket with me. Nobody would care what I wore because I’d be completely swaddled in down.
