I like the thread on the Parent Forum about the best book read in the last 6 months.
I had never seen the “clam fart” thread but I laughed loudly, several times, on several different pages! :))
So many passioned people on this site. It feels great to get in a hearty “clam fart” laugh. That was great!
@doschicos I hadn’t seen the “clam fart” thread before either. Laughing so hard I’m crying. THANK YOU.
The ones where the poster lists their kid’s merit and stats in the same post.
Oh yes! The “clam fart” thread is my absolute favorite! It is still funny to me, years after I first read it! It is too bad that it is closed to comments now, as it was nice for it to be “bumped up” from time to time so a whole new group of parents/applicants could get a chuckle.
I always like reading the “we’re planning a trip to … what should I see” type threads.
I also used the love reading the threads about my favorite TV shows that I was watching at the time. The Mad Men and Downton Abbey ones stick out. I was always impressed at the things other people were able to pick out.
Re the clam fart guy: we need a “Where are they now?” feature. He would have graduated from Yale by now; wonder what he’s up to now. (Just looked at the thread; although it seems fake (but hilarious) someone said that Neurotic Parent had confirned the story with the Yale admissions office and had therefore included it in her book. Not sure if it is true but i like to think it is!)
Say it here…I love to rant and love other’s rants even more.
Also ,anything recipe or food related
That clam fart thread rings a bell….must go back and take a look
On a serious note, I love Swallows of Capistrano and think about it every year about this time.
Curmudgeon was the best!
Deb922 wish I could like more than once. Have thought of that thread many times recently!
ETA - back then, the posters were complaining about costs " in excess of $45,000 per year" for top schools.
I love the threads where a parent or student has a serious affordability problem, the regulars come back with a wealth of realistic, albeit sometimes kind of hard to swallow, information and strategies for solving the problem, and the original poster works with those giving suggestions, takes the suggestions, then comes back later with positive outcomes and gratitude for the help that the strategies made in making affording a college education a reality.
Really, I like any posts where the original poster comes back with an update and feels gratitude for the help they received here. Not just affordability, but for anything.
Still laughing from the Clam Fart thread. Made my day for sure! Really do need an ongoing “where are they now” thread–who wants to start?
